  • New York Public Library

    June 17, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

When I lived in New York, I came here all the time. At that time, we still used index cards to look for books. You write down on a flash card and give it to a librarian and he will get the book for you. There is a special section with all preserved rare books you can’t borrow.

It all changed after the movie “The Day after tomorrow” was out. It became so famous as an attraction.

Yet. It is still one of the biggest spots and places of mine.

(Ok. The Waffle pic is not here. It’s at home library)

  • Dinner at Penn Club

    June 17, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Finished up my beloved NY public library on 42th. We were all exhausted. Trying to find a quiet place in this busy area and sit down for a decent dinner. We ended up in Penn Club.

Last time I had casual drinks and bar foods in the Grill Room. This time we wanted to try the main dining room. OMG! The foods were surprisingly good!! Especially the Tuna tartar and Beef Wellington which is totally compatible to Hell’s Kitchen with maybe just half the price!

Together with Yale Club, Penn Club, they are my favorite sanctuaries in this concrete jungle!

  • Carnegie Hall Tour

    June 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

We live right cross street of Carnegie Hall at the Park Hyatt. Our timeshare Penthouse of W57 Hilton Club is next to Carnegie Hall. There shouldn’t be any reason not to visit for the kids. I used to come for concerts when I lived in NYC. So here we are. For the kids.

And the building is gorgeous!! There is another group of 3 people joined our tour and amazingly they are the musicians who will be performing at Carnegie Hall tonight!

  • Russian Tea Room

    June 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We are making the same mistake as last time we went to Mass. too much lunch before early big dinner!!!! We are going to Per Se tonight for Irene’s birthday. After Carnegie Hall tour, we knew we needed to eat something light. Russian Tea Room is right next door. What can I say?!

I have always wanted to come to Russian Tea Room ever since 30 years ago. I am so glad it is still around. And it is just so close to us! Oh, they didn’t charge us on the champignon, beer and virgin Moscow Mules for the girls. I asked them to add and they simply said: no worries about that. So Russian!! I like that. Sheeee.

The tea is really good!! So are the Russian foods. Now I have to worry about Per Se.

    June 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

    per se. /ˌpər ˈsā/, adverb
by or in itself or themselves; intrinsically.

It is hard to book the restaurant but we did it for Irene’s birthday. We are quite excited about the dining experience but we we stuffed from Russian Tea Room at lunch.

But it turned out to be our favorite restaurant in New York! They even tour us into the kitchen. It is so very French! Except the cheese dishes that I cannot eat, everything else is top notch!

    Happy Birthday, Irene!

It’s quiet. The food is ok.

  • Dinner at Lotos Club

    July 1, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Last day in New York before fly back to Seattle.

We finally got to the Lotos Club for dinner.
Immediately it becomes our favorite club in New York!

Unlike Yale Club or Penn Club, Lotos is a sanctuary for writers and artists. It is filled with arts, paintings and sculptures. Even the name Lotos is from a poem written by Alfred Tennyson.

Oh the food is amazing! Best tuna tartar!

Although a little bumpy at flight from JFK to SEA, we are all very excited to come back to Bellevue! We stay at W Bellevue for few days until we figure how to deal with furnitures.

  • Breakfast at W Bellevue

    July 3, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

    Ok.

    Hilton
    Marriott

  • W Bellevue

    July 7, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

    W(estin)
    W(ith) friends
Thank you for calling Whatever/Whenever Department.
    W(hatever) W(henever).
