  • Wollondilly Lookout

    October 12, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

We had an earlier start today. As they were forecasting rain in the afternoon.
Just a short drive up to Wollondilly Lookout.
Was a very scenic drive. The tiny tunnel carved through the rock was interesting.
We watched the clouds starting to roll in from the lookout. Home before the rain hit.

  • Kiama to Kangaroo Valley

    October 14, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our last day exploring this wonderful area.
Back down to the coast to check out another childhood memory. The Kiama Blowhole. Was a great revisit. I am sure the blowhole was bigger when I last visited... but then I was a lot smaller. Spotted lots of whales. Was a lovely sunny day to just sit and watch them play.
Meet some nice birds at Cambewarra lookout, plus a magic view back to the coast. They had a nice cafe here, but we had filled up on ice cream at Berry. Was locally made, very delicious, plus huge.
Then home through Kangaroo Valley. Where we checked out the lovely old Hampton Bridge.
It's been an excellent stay in the Southern Highlands.

  • Cowra

    October 16, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We are currently in Cowra overnight. The weather has turned just a bit hot.

Spent the afternoon visiting the site of the POW camp. Where they held Japanese soldiers. Famous for their brakeout. 1100 prisoners escaped, and over 200 were killed. Plus, 4 guards.
Then to the war cemetery for the Japanese who lost their lives in the brakeout. Plus, local soldiers that paid the ultimate price. A beautiful place of remembrance.
The Australian UN Peace Bell is also found in Cowra. It is cast from melted down coins from the UN nations.
A lovely rose garden was just across the road from our camp.

We are currently camped between Bathurst and Orange.
The boss has us heading home. Will have to rein him in... otherwise, he will get the bit between his teeth, and we will be home too soon.

  • Orange Botanical Gardens

    October 21, 2025 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After being sloth like for the past couple of days, we ventured into Orange today.
Had to pick up supplies. Graham was hoping for cherries. I'm still a little early in the season.
We did go for a stroll around the Botanical Gardens. Beautiful.
Check out the first 3 photos... a Chinese Snowball Tree. I have never seen one before. It's stunning.
