They had an interesting collection of arms on display in the barracks including what appeared to be a gun wheel for storing pistols and jousting/cavalry armor.

Edinburgh Castle - War Memorial

Scottish coat of arms, interesting statues in front of the war memorial. No photos allowed in the memorial. It contains sections and books which list all the Scotts who were lost in battle. A nice memorial and remembrance for the Scottish people. https://www.snwm.org/Read more

Edinburgh Castle - Mons Megs

Ibis Heathrow Airport

Well my flight went well and I made it safely to my hotel around 10:30 PM local time. Grabbed a bite to eat, logged some entries and then heading to bed to get up to get out to the airport by around 8-9 for my 11 AM flight. I should be in Seattle Monday around 2PM. Until then........Read more

Edinburgh - Final Thoughts

I'm happy I made the journey to Scotland. There was much to see and much history to learn. I just touched the tip of the iceberg. Once I finished at the castle I road a couple of the tour buses just to see more of the town and hear the history. Pretty interesting and something for others to explore. Once I was done it was off to the guest house to retrieve my bags then off to the airport for my journey to London and then flying back home to Seattle on Monday. It has been a fun experience and I hope that someday I can journey here again to explore further.Read more

Heathrow Airport - Returning to Seattle

My Delta flight was scheduled for 11:00 AM. I tried checking in Sunday night but the webpage wasn't working... Apparently they had another computer glitch. My flight was delayed 2:20 until 1:20 departure at Heathrow. Was able to visit the Virgin club lounge which was very nice and finally boarded around 12:30 PM local time. After a nearly 10:00 hour flight I will be home again!Read more

Home to Seattle

My flight went without any delays and I was able to arrive in Seattle at terminal gate at 3:06 PM. I was final able to use my global entry so I by-passed the passport control lines and when directly to the kiosk, scanned my passport and after a quick check by an agent was off to customs. Another quick check by a customs agent I was out to the tram for main terminal in a record 13 minutes and out of the airport by 3:30 PM. This definitely makes it worth the extra paperwork and "information sharing". I'm thankful that I was able to make this journey and enjoy London and Edinburgh. It was relaxing and left me with much to think about from a historical & social economic perspective.Read more
