Man From Snowy River Festival

This is an exciting festival held every few years and this year they are performing a full re-enactment of the famous muster ride seen on the movie. Should be a great trip, will be gone for 3 weeks and returning via the outback. Les mer

Amazing little town on the way to Tamworth. Its wonderful still travelling through these little towns that aren’t bypassed by the motorways . These towns survive on tourism and if we bypass them with all the motorways we never go through to the poor little towns and they suffer and end up dying.Les mer

After Tamworth we nearly decided to change our trip altogether and just head west to the outback, but after a few thoughts it was Nah, lets just get there, and so we did, and glad we did. The rodeo was something else and some of the top bronc riders and bull riders from around the world were there, something incredible to see.
The crowds just made it all that more special, check out the videos as well to see what it was like.

  • Amazing Road

    15.–16. apr. 2025, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

This was out of the blue. These roads out here are atrocious, lacking any maintenance other than blobs of asphalt dumped in holes.
We took a detour off the main highway cutting across from Condobolin to Mt Hope, and suddenly hit this stunning road, no cars for 100k’s and smooth as glass. It passed through the massive pastoral station out here and obviously was not built by a local council. Then we popped out the other end at Mt Hope on the Kidman Way and everything went back to normal. Argh.Les mer

  • The Royal at Mt Hope

    15. april 2025, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Finally hit the Royal Hotel at Mount Hope which is about the only thing in the area. This area used to be a big mining town and then over the years as mining died it moved into agriculture and all the small farmers got bought out by the big agriculture companies and now it’s all these big corporate business but nothing out here much left from the pub itself.Les mer

  • Goats, Goats, everywhere

    15. april 2025, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

The goats out here are incredible, literally thousands of them, all wild.

The publican at the Mt Hope pub told us an interesting little story about all the goats. Apparently there are many millions of them up in the region and they get rounded up, the wild goats. They then truck them in road trains by the hundreds down to Albury where they shipped off for processing and the meat gets sent to America, apparently it feeds the prisoners in the prison system in America rather than the quality beef, so that was an interesting story. Believe it or Not.Les mer

  • Just Made It

    16.–18. apr. 2025, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Well this was a very interesting journey this morning. We filled up at Forbes and then had forgotten to fill up again at Condobolin on our way to Mount Hope so at Mount Hope the computer gauge says we had 178 km of fuel left and Cobar was 168 km away so it was a nerve wracking journey. The closer we got the shorter our calculation was. We hit 0 klm left with 2 klm to go.

Absolutely holding our breath for the last 10-15 km. We arrived into Cobar got to the servo and we had 4L spare, so talk about cutting it fine won’t do that again.
