  • Eating vermouth and lunch

    April 11, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

After a nice walk through La Juderia (Jewish quarter), the owner of Meson Anyfer told us to come back at 1:30pm for lunch. We decided to try some escargots next door. Miam! Miam!

  • Beautiful Zuheros

To get to Zuheros, we rode on a Via Verde: great path through well maintained olive orchards. Zuheros is one of the most beautiful village in Spain.

  • Antequera: dolmens & food

Sundays in Spain are very quiet: all stores are closed, most touristy sites shut down early and many restaurants are closed.

  • Camino del Rey on a windy day

    April 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

A fun and touristy hike from Ardales to El Chorro. Make reservations in advance! If we had known, we would have worn our biking helmets.

  • Tapas & views of El Torcal

    April 19, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

We didn’t have time to climb up to El Torcal but we had great views when we rode through Villanueva de la Conception on our way to Colmenar.

  • Parque Natural Montes de Malaga

    April 21, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Wow! What a ride! Mountains, vegetable fields, A LOT of sheep with babies, gravel path between gorges and finally beautiful Alhama de Granada!

  • La Alpujarra: Capileira

    April 25, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Heading east: Orgiva, Pampaneira, Bubión and finally the prettiest village: Capileira. Streets are narrow and steep.

  • Trevélez: jamón and elevation

    April 26, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Excellent ride to Trevélez, a pueblo blanco in La Alpujarra famous for its “healthy” ham (no nitric preservatives, low salt and long maturing periods). It’s also the highest village in Europe (1476 meters).Read more

  • Pure mountains to Laroles

    April 27, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Probably the best bike ride of our trip: great views, no traffic and beautiful roads with many switchbacks.

  • Down to the beach

    April 29, 2023 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

We loved the mountains!!! On the ride down towards Aguadulce, the surreal sprawl of plastic covered invernaderos (greenhouses) made us wonder if we should turn around…
Close to Aguadulce Playa, a local restaurant served us delicious seafood tapas: free tapa with a drink :)Read more

    May 5, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Very impressed with the route and signage of Eurovélo 8 from Aguilas to Cartagena! Detailed routes can be found on Wikiloc. We went through agricultural areas (big fields of melons, onions, greenhouses of tomatoes…) and then rode along stretches of unspoiled beaches on pistas (best gravel riding of our entire trip)Read more
