Santa Monica Pier is the unofficial start/end of Route 66.
Ocean Front Walk

We explored a few sites along the Pacific Coast Highway near the Pier.

We then traveled to our hotel starting from the "official" western terminus of the route, Lincoln Boulevard and Olympic. Sadly, no signage exists marking the significance of this spot.

We toured the backlot areas where they film jungle and forest scenes.

We saw the "small town set" used in shows and movies, like "Gilmore Girls", "Pretty Little Liars", and "Music Man".

Then we toured the "city" sets. Films like "Annie (1982)" and TV shows like "ER" were filmed here.
