We took a detour from the route to visit the town of Chloride, Arizona. The town has a reproduction "ghost town" from the wild west era.

We then traveled up to Nevada to tour the Hoover Dam. There we saw the dam's power plant and walked across to the Arizona side.
Back on Route 66 we saw a series of roadside "Burma-Shave" signs, which were popular in the 1940s and 1950s.
A few highlights from today's drive on the route: a water tower and historic pickup in Kingman, and classic vehicles outside Hackberry General Store.
Today we went to the Grand Canyon. There are no words to explain how amazing the views are there. We started the day by taking a Pink Jeep tour of the South Rim.
We then hiked on the Rim Trail.
We saw a variety of wildlife during our time in the park.
We started out today by taking a side trip to Montezuma Castle. It's just a short ride south from Flagstaff. There we saw the remains of cliff dwellings used by the Sinagua more than 500 years ago.

We then stopped at the Sunset Crater before continuing on Route 66 to Winslow. The crater is the remnants of a volcanic eruption in 1085.
