    🇮🇹 Syracuse, Italy

    Planes, Buses & AutomobilesI

    I går, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Our journey started at 4:30 this morning. Flew to Catania, took a bus to Ortigia & an Uber (or an Italian equivalent) to our hotel. We're here in Ortigia Italy! We're staying in a very old, small, boutique hotel right on the water. It is lovely. We covered most of the stuff we are close to on foot this afternoon. The scenery is breathtaking.. Here are some of my pics from today.Les mer

  • Day in London

    17. april, England ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

We disembarked about 9 this morning & took the bus to Gatwick airport. We have a hotel room here for the night. We spent the day walking around London. It's a nice day about 60 degrees with sun and clouds. First stop was Buckingham Palace. The palace isn't open to the public, but it was fun to take some pictures. St. James Garden was full of yellow flowers and dark purple tulips. We also walked through Hyde Park Gardens also filled with spring flowers. Next we walked to the Victoria and Albert Museum. We had lunch outside in the garden Cafe and explored the museum for a couple of hours. We have a very early flight to Sicily in the morning.Les mer

  • Walkabout in Le Havre

    16. april, Frankrike ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

When we returned to the cruise ship, we took a walk into Le Havre, about 20 minutes from the cruise terminal quay.

We found L'Havrais Bière, I had some Normandy Cider (cidre), it was tasty. We had a very nice lunch outside on the sunny plaza!

Walked around the city center then back to the ship.

We sail into Southampton UK tomorrow morning. Then fly to Sicily early Saturday morning.

Sue has more photos that she will post soon...

  • Honfleur & Deauville

    16. april, Frankrike ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Here are some pics from yesterday's excursion to Honfleur, the historic seaside town settled by the Norman's in the 1400's. The bus took the long way back to the ship through the beaucolic town of Deauville. I got some pictures from the bus window. Deauville had thatched houses with daffodils growing in the roof peaks and bright yellow fields of Canola flowers.Les mer

  • Activities on Board

    15. april, English Channel ⋅ 🌬 13 °C

Every"Sea" day there are many activities to choose from to do. Today I attended a culinary demonstration by the 2 executive chefs. I also took tour of the ship's galley. Both were really interesting. Afterwards I went to my favorite Music Trivia activity. DJ Denzel does music trivia each day at noon. Ive learned a lot of cool music info. However, no prizes won yet.😎Les mer

  • Central Lisbon

    13. april, Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Took the tram back to the center of the city and did another walk about.

We had previously seen many of the sites, but not the Cathedral of Lisbon. The cathedral is the starting point of the Camino Portugués, another pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. We made a point to find the first Yellow Arrow marking "the way". We found it, but not sure if you can see it in the photo ....Les mer

  • LISBOA

    13. april, Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

I was up at 6AM as our ship sailed into Lisbon. The lights of the bridge & the illuminated cross were pretty as sunrise was still a few minutes away
Jim planned a very nice walk as we started out this morning, to a garden that had lots of peacocks squacking and a cat who befriended us.Les mer

  • Rocking & Rolling at O'Malley's Pub

    12. april, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌬 14 °C

As Jim has mentioned we've had rough seas for the past 36 hours (barf bags at each stairwell). Dance Production was postponed last night as it was not safe for the dancers on stage. Tonight we got a prime seat at O'Malley Irish Pub and took pics of the sea, it's still pretty active. O'Malley has become the "Halpin Home Away from Cabin" late afternoon meeting for us and Fran & Sherry. Tonight after dinner we scored a prime spot looking out on the white caps.Les mer

  • Surf's up

    12. april, North Atlantic Ocean ⋅ 🌬 14 °C

We've spent two days sailing through 5-6 meter swells (according to the Captain's frequent weather updates).

It seems like the surf is finally starting to calm a bit, but the Barf Bag bins are still deployed on all decks. On my way to get coffee this morning a crew member was washing the stairs and hand rails (eeeewwwww!)

    Into Lisbon tomorrow....

  • Our "Dinner Family"

    11. april, Portugal ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

We have had dinner each night in the same restaurant named Allegro. It was Fran's idea to invite 4 other people to join us at our table for dinner. We lucked out & have gotten to know and have become friends with 4 fun & interesting people -- John & Marilyn from Pawley's Island, SC and Maureen & Linda from Montreal. They have become our "Dinner Family". Our 2 additional family members are Peninah & Reagan who have provided us with wonderful service.Les mer
