TravelerWhen we were in the town of Machu Pichu, our hotel window opened right above the train tracks. It was a warm night so we had the window open. Melissa, exhausted from the elevation, fell asleep quickly. I was surfing the web when I heard a train coming. The noise was building gradually enough, that I thought me moving quickly to close the window would have a greater chance of waking Melissa up than just letting the train pass. As soon as the engine was right under our window, a dog ran out in front of the engine and the engineer blew the horn…. Melissa went from a deep sleep, to standing next to her bed, wondering who she was, where she was, and why she was there….. it took about 20 min for the shaking to stop 😬
TravelerEek! Yes same hotel situation for us—noisy trains. We had to be in Aguas Calientes for 3 nights due to the ticket situation, nice place but small for that much time!
