ALOHA! Today, I flew from Carthage (DTTA) to Kairouan, Tunisia. There were two WWII airfields along the way, but I couldn’t find them—abandoned and not visible. With a map and some luck, I made it to Kairouan, landing on a quiet stretch of roadway and pulling off just in time. Saw the World Heritage Site of Kairouan, one of Islam’s holiest cities, famous for its Great Mosque, historic medina, and centuries-old Islamic architecture.Read more
