    We have crossed into the Indre department and are staying the night in the little village of Orsennes, it has nice parkland, a communal lake and small commerce in the town....all the essentials...boulangerie, pharmacy and coiffeur 😉Leia mais

    Bessais le Fromental, Cher

    We stood alone tonight in a beautiful area by a lake which in high season is bustling with water activities and campers. So we had it all to ourselves which especially pleased Niska who didn't hesitate to explore! We had a lovely hike around the lake.

    Vézelay, Yonne

    Vézelay is a defensible hill town famous for its 11th century Romanesque Basilica St. Mary Magdalene and is the starting point of the pilgrim route Via Lemovicensis (which we roughly followed in reverse).
    The Basilica is beautiful and looks like it is undergoing ongoing restoration. It's extremely well preserved.
    We stayed at the foot of the town overnight.    Leia mais

    Clermont, Oise

    Clermont is a beautiful town North of Paris.
    The town is built on a hill surmounted by a 14th century keep.
    It has numerous historic buildings, the earliest dating back to the 12th century which we discovered on our historic walk around the town.Leia mais

    Local Museum had a Halloween theme going on in its gardens
    The entrance to the CitadelThe town had a large citadel with impressive wallsEglise Notre-Dame stands in the town centreThe museum garden with Autumn colors and Halloween creatures lurkingScary Halloween dolls in the museum groundsWe used a local Vet for Niska's UK return travel paperworkAire on edge of town, with services. Close to main road and bus station (so not the quietest)

    Doullens, Somme

    We are staying in Doullens where we have an appointment with the vet to have Niska's travel document authorised for her return to the UK.
    It's been very wet today but we used our time around the appointment to explore the town which has a Citadel and other buildings of interest.Leia mais
