Had to return to Wellington as I got what I think was food poisoning. Had to spend 6 days recovering.

Day 1 of south Island after recovering I had a ferry ride and a short walk. The weka have little fear of people.

A really long and hot walk to the first hut of the Richmond ranges. A total of 44kms of walking most of it roads.

A long walk with the first glimpses of the mountains to come. Stayed the night before the hike out to nelson.

I believe I pushed myself too hard and had to take a break and recover after a few big days of walking.

Hard hike but felt strong and I feel like a broken record but the views of all the mountains were amazing except for mount Rintoul.

The start of a lot of fake descends where I think that I'm going downhill and then immediately start going up another hill before coming up up to a nice little hut by a river

Tough slow hike with blisters making it more hard than it needed to be, but it was a good hike nonetheless.

Had an extended rest while I waited for my father to arrive in New Zealand. I spent five days in a hostel where I did next to nothing but eat and a little wandering around town.
