• Tramping Tales - part 2

    16 giugno 2025, Nuova Zelanda ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

Part 2 of tramping tales and I bet you have been waiting with baited breath!

The hikes have been mixed with some lovely long beach stomps but they are not classed as tramping so will not be recorded from here.

Cookson Kauri - I really wanted to hike the Pinnacles but the weather was really unpredictable so I decided to do another walk in the Coromandel Forest area so chose this one and it was wonderful, around 5km and a lot of steps but love the feel of my heart pumping, makes me feel alive and at the end of the walk I was rewarded with a massive Kauri, 800 years old and huge!

Mount Paku - very small uphill trek but really enjoyable and wonderful views of Tairua.

Whakarewarewa forest short walk - after the tree top walk I embarked on a lovely little walk through the redwood forest.

Rotatura lake including the thermal plains - walking lakeside through the thermal land, like another world.

Tongariro National Park - Taranaki Falls and onto the lower and almost to the upper Tama lakes but the wind was so strong, it was pretty scary so decided to turn back and so pleased I did as the weather changed and rained constantly got the rest of the trek. Beautiful walk though. The right side of challenging, around 17km but a lot of fun and actually met other hikers on the route.
