    Home!

    19. März 2015 in Australien ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

We're getting excited, not long to go now til we leave on our big family adventure! I'm preparing with lots of Lego because I'm the most excited about going to Lego Land in a few weeks. Ruby and I are watching movies like Frozen in French instead of English! It sounds funny!
Mum is packing like crazy. We fly out of Melbourne next Wednesday the 25th of March.

  • Melbourne airport

    25. März 2015 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

It's night time and I'm not even tired! We can see some very very big planes. The airport is like a shopping centre. We're all very excited to be going to France! Aunt Lurleen is helping us have fun.

  • Dubai airport

    26. März 2015 in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

OK now we're tired! It was such a long flight. I liked looking at the flight information on the screen about how high and fast we were going. The movies and games were great! We couldn't see much of Dubai, it looked dusty. The airport was amazing!Weiterlesen

  • Paris, France

    26. März 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌧 6 °C

We are in France! It was so exciting to land here. The airport is not very beautiful but it was amazing to see soldiers with real machine guns. Too scared to take a photo of them! We are waiting for a very fast train (TGV) to take us to where we'll be staying in Uzes.Weiterlesen

  • 27 Rue Xavier Sigalon, Uzes

    27. März 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

Uzes is very old and very nice! We are living on a pretty lane, our door is the first on the right in the first picture. There is no doorstep! You have to be careful not to bop people walking by with the front door, or cars. There is a fun cellar underneath and our bedroom is on the 3rd floor. All these pictures are of the house. We explored lots of laneways today and will go to the markets tomorrow! Look out for lots of my pictures!Weiterlesen

  • Market day!

    28. März 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

The market was very busy. Mum was excited to go shopping! We saw some interesting things including snails and horse meat and giant cheeses. It was all so colourful! I liked it.

  • Le Duchy d'Uzes

    31. März 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

We visited a very old place where dukes of Uzes have been for hundreds of years. The building started about 900 years ago, that's old!! There is still a duke but he's a real estate agent living in paris these days. We climbed up a tower which had 135 steps and it was very high. I saw windows that were triangular so that bad guys couldnt shoot arrows through the little openings. Mum & dad liked the broken tower especially. The duchy rooms are beautiful and the wine cellar humongous. There are too many photos to choose from... I will try.Weiterlesen

  • I spoke French at the market today!!

    1. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

I bought Nannie a flower for 1 euro. I said "je veux acheter" then "merci, au revoir." Cool! We also saw lots of yummy cheeses, terrines, hams, pâté and salad to go with our baguettes.

  • Medieval garden and Tower of the King

    1. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

The garden wasn't exciting for me but I liked climbing the tower. It was a prison tower with very very thick walks. There was graffiti from mediaeval times! Amazing... Mostly religious graffiti. Hope you can see it in the pictures.Weiterlesen

  • Pont du Gard

    3. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

"We came all this way to see an old bridge". Yes this Roman aqueduct was built almost 2000 years ago and only took 5 years. It is huge, clever, but people must have worked very hard on it. I liked climbing up high and taking photosWeiterlesen

  • The Cathedrale Saint Theodorit.

    3. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Today we went to a little cathedral in Uzes. There were lots of paintings and a beautiful old organ. The first and second versions of the cathedral got smooshed in wars, so this building is only 400 years old! (That's still pretty old I reckon). Then I took my family on a tour through funny lane ways, and we found some lanes and shops we hadn't seen before. Ruby said the streets were so old and broken!Weiterlesen

  • Some family pics I thought you'd like

    3. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Mum gave me and Ruby a coin to make a wish in the fountain. Ruby wished for raining watermelons but my wish is a secret!

  • Each day a new day

    6. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Nannie is very sick in hospital in Nimes; she is in intensive care after hitting her head and has been asleep for more than 2 days. We are very worried about her but the doctors say she will get better and they will try to wake her up tomorrow. I will be able to visit her in a few days.

We are trying to keep doing things like she would with us. We make a wish and toss a coin in the fountain every day. We had crêpes for lunch today- it's great that you can get nearly everything with Nutella in France!

The dogs here are so good, they wait nicely even at food shops! Ruby says they are all "Tres Mignon".

  • Uzes at night

    8. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 6 °C

Tonight mum has taken over the blog entry.

Ann/Nannie is awake!! She still has the ventilation tube in for a couple more days. But she can understand what we say to her, yes in English and French. We are all breathing a little easier now and things are very hopeful that she will be herself again in weeks to come.

Meanwhile we were very lucky to have support of our amazing family team here and accept the chance to go out for dinner and explore Uzes after dark for the first time. The stone and architecture and laneways and random cats and general oozing mediaeval charm is fantastique!

  • French movie cinema!

    8. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

First to say Nannie is even better mum says and might get her breathing tube out tomorrow. We will wait for what is best for Nannie but I miss her.

Today we went to see Shaun le Mouton (Shaun the sheep) at the cinema. It was so funny. We also made our own popcorn in a machine when we put the euro coins in. It was a lot of fun for all of us & we were the only people in the cinema so we could talk and laugh loudly.Weiterlesen

  • Dress ups

    10. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ 🌙 2 °C

Nannie is better again today but her throat is too swollen to get the tube out yet. It may be a couple of days yet. I can't wait to see her again.
Today all the school kids in Uzes dressed up in costumes and marched right past our house. It was very noisy and fun.Weiterlesen

  • Avignon, Palais des Papes

    10. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

We had a big day trip with Lurleen and our family to Avignon on the bus. It is much bigger than Uzes and has a wall all around it. The palace of the popes is enormous and old. The pope bought the whole city from queen Joan so they could have the palace there. I wonder how all the people would have felt! We had lunch on the roof of the palace which was awesome.

Nannie is strong and awake but still needs the breathing tube because of her swollen throat. I can't wait til she comes home.

  • Avignon, Sur le pont!

    10. April 2015 in Frankreich ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Mum and Lurleen told me about the famous song about dancing on the Avignon bridge. It is old and a bit broken but it has seen a lot of history over hundreds of years and survived a lot of battles. Legend says it was built by magic! I liked visiting the 700 year old bridge and had an audio guide to listen to while I looked around.Weiterlesen
