Sydney to Cairns day of travel

Today we made the journey from Bondi to Sydney via 30 minute uber, and from Sydney to Cairns via 3.5 hour flight. Our Uber driver from Bondi to Sydney was fantastic; he was so well travelled and had been to hundreds of cities(he was retired driving uber for fun we think). We got some good pointers from him on new places to add to our itinerary.

Once we arrived in Cairns we settled in, and while we planned to go downtown immediately a massive rainstorm came through so we opted to plan Southeast Asia in the hotel lobby instead.

Once the rain passed, we did a long beach walk along the boardwalk that lines Cairn’s harbor and through the downtown core.

During the walk we were astounded to see thousands of birds(parrots) and hundreds of giant fruit bats. The bats were easily a foot across and massive and were swooping overhead, while the swarms of parrots went free to tree making a ton of noise(see the pics and videos for reference!).

We found a fun Thai restaurant for dinner(Lanna Thai) and then headed home for some early sleep as we have scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow!En savoir plus
