• Rome to Tuscany

    5 Jun, Itali ⋅ ☁️ 79 °F

Today we traveled from Rome, to the Tuscany region, staying in Peccioli.

We got the day started with coffee from the cafe beneath our apartment again(they make a mean cappuccino). And then called a taxi to our rental car provider via Uber. Interestingly, because the taxis are a third party, the location wasn’t correctly input by dispatch and our driver took us to the wrong rental car location. Eventually we got it sorted and he took us to the correct spot.

When we got to our rental car provider, they no longer had our car, and gave us an “upgrade” to a car that wasn’t an SUV. Given we are using the car on small country roads for a month, we were a bit disappointed. Regardless, we took the car and set out for the Tuscany region.

The drive was four hours, so we stopped midway to explore the city of Grosseto and stretch our legs. The city had a cool medieval wall surrounding the old town, and we enjoyed exploring and checking out their old cathedral.

After exploring a bit, we continued on to the town of Peccioli where we are staying the next six days. Peccioli was super charming and quaint, and had a huge focus on art with an awesome gallery covering one side of the town with views of vineyards stretching in front of it, and with an art exhibit bridge on the other side of town, sticking out over the town itself. The art exhibit bridge was one of our favorite parts of the town, as it enabled us to walk out over the city for some truly memorable views.

We explored town a bit after getting settled in our Airbnb, and then grabbed pizza and beer from a local spot for dinner. The food was delicious, but we may have hit our pizza and beer quota for the near term!
