      Big Days

      June 30, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We are in Sterling, North Dakota, about halfway across North Dakota and about halfway across the country. So much to see every day.
Today we saw Salem Sue, said to be the worlds’ largest Holstein. She’s a statue, visible on her hilltop perch for miles around. I’m the afternoon, we crossed the Missouri River at Bismark.
We rode 64 miles again today, mostly into small to medium headwinds. My legs are exhausted. My mind is exhausted, too.
The views continue their enchantment. The fields are rich with yellow or green color. Reedy marshes pop up unexpectedly along the highway and they are a delight every time. Today I saw a marsh with ducks paddling around. It’s one of the benefits of biking, there’s time to watch the action on the side of the road.
