Mid-way through Quarantine-cation, starting to head back east. Breakfast to go wasn't too bad considering they usually have a buffet, but the 'new normal'; prepackaged muffins, granola bars and bottled water. Today we'll do about an 8 1/2 hr. drive east to Augusta, GA. Pretty city full of history, right on the Savannah River, beautiful river walk and even a local brewery open for takeout. Their Kolsch A went great with the ribs and chips we had for dinner. Road trips across America is a wonderful way to see this beautiful country. Later in the afternoon, we headed over to the August after finding out that the Savannah River Canal tour had been cancelled because they ran the boat aground earlier in the day. The museum was really pretty good. There was, of course, a lot of info on Augusta National Golf Course and the The Masters, and a large section covering the life and career of the "Godfather of Soul" James Brown, who was born and raised in Augusta.

Other pics include the Presbyterian church that President Wilson's father was pastor of during the Civil War, a pic from the window of our hotel and one of the inside of Hildebrandt's which was a little German deli where we had lunch.Read more

Boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson

We arrived a little before noon and got our own personal tour of the house that President Woodrow Wilson lived in as a boy during and after the civil war.
His next door neighbor and best friend, Joseph Lamar, was later appointed to the US Supreme Court by President Taft.Read more

Starting our U S Eastern Coast Trip

Augusta, Georgia -arriving 7 p.m., Thursday, September 14. 2017.
Our 1st tour stop on our trip was the Augusta National Golf Club. We wanted to maybe take a picture of the golf course and the club house, but wss unable to enter the area because of a black wrought iron gate that was locked.
Friday, Septembrr, 15, We toured The Signal Corps Museum located on the Fort Gordon Base. This is where David was stationed in 1966 with The Company B 115 Signal Battalion Army National Guard.Read more
