Hawley Township

From the 4th through the morning of the 6th, my friends Jill, Dave and their dog Spike hosted us at their home in Hawley, it was SOOOO much fun to ride to a friends’ house halfway across the country. Jill and Dave were gracious hosts. Their friends Jeff and Melissa came over for the 4th and Richard and I talked and listened about biking, life and farming. I got to learn about what the equipment we’ve been seeing from the road actually does! It was fascinating. Great visiting.
We rested on the 6th (including sharing footprints). I slept til 11 and ate everything in sight afterward. Jill and Dave made us delicious meals and snacks almost continuously! Thank you both so much! What a treat.
We learned about Dave’s influential work with 7th through 12th graders as Hawley’s Agriculture teacher, including seeing his classroom and shop spaces. His curriculum and FFA activities are clearly a gift to young people.
Throughout our visit, Jill and I got to reminisce and trade stories which was heartwarming the whole time.
Their Chihuahua Spike is Mr. Mellow. If I didn’t have to bring his food along, I would have stolen him. He’s a little slice of calm.
We left Hawley on Thursday and continued eastward after a delightful visit.Read more
