  • William Woodsworth - Grave

    June 22, 2025 in England ⋅ 🌧 57 °F

This is where William and his family were buried. His tombstone just has his name, when he died, his wife's name, and when she died. The other members of the family wrote a lot more; usually mentioning how they were related to William (since he was famous).Read more

  • Sheep!

    June 22, 2025 in England ⋅ 🌧 55 °F

Not only did we get to see some more sheep up close, but her two ewes (baby sheep - sounds like the word 'you') were there too. And to make it even better, we could see a waterfall from there too! It's really hard to see in the photo, but I promise it was there!Read more

  • Shopping

    June 22, 2025 in England ⋅ 🌧 57 °F

I found a clothing store that looked really cool, and I was excited because it is open until 6. We walk to the entrance, and it says closed. Confused, we looked at the sign and realized that today is Sunday, and like most things in Europe, the store was closed all day. :-(Read more

  • Grenta Green

    June 23, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ 🌬 57 °F

We're in Scotland! We just made a stop in a small town that sprung up around the blacksmithing industry. It stayed popular because in England, the minimum age to get married was 21 years old (now it is 18). However, in Scotland it was (and still is 16 years old), so young couples would come to Scotland and elope.Read more

  • Ness Bridge

    June 24, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 59 °F

We had lunch in Inverness, which is one of the cities that the River Ness goes through. Cole and I had burgers, and the girls had some traditional Scotish food. Cole and I went over the Ness Bridge and the foot bridge. The foot bridge swayed a little too much for my liking (I don't want my bridges to sway at all really.....), but Cole didn't mind. When we looked in the Ness river, we saw something..... Is that a piece of a tree? Or one of the Loch Ness Monster's (Nessie) family members that got lost in the river? We'll have to go to the lake to ask her!Read more

  • Urquhart Castle

    June 24, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

Urquhart Castle is a small castle on Loch Ness. When the Jacobite revolution ended, the castle was partially blown up. We couldn't get very close, but the view was amazing!

  • Loch Ness

    June 24, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

Loch Ness literally means Lake Ness. It is famous for the Loch Ness Monster, or how she is affectionately sometimes called, Nessie. There have been tons of sightings and stories, but the strange part is that they have had strange sonar readings of objects that are too big to be a fish, and don't stay in the same place. The sunlight doesn't go very far down into the water, so seeing things at the bottom would need special underwater vehicles (with lights). Do you believe in Nessie? I do!Read more

  • The Kelpies

    June 25, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

The Kelpies were shape-shifting water horses that lived in bodies of water around the British Isles. The stories revolve around warning children of the dangers of the bodies of water and warning women to be wary of handsome strangers (the Kelpies were almost always male when in human form).
These Kelpies were made by Andy Scott and are 98 feet tall!

  • Room with a view

    June 25, 2025 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

We're staying at Barony Castle Hotel tonight, which was created as a "tower house" (similar ideas as a castle). Cole and I got the best view (5th floor rooms). I'm a little confused about our floor number though. We had to go to the 1st floor, then go up 2 flights of stairs, and that put us on the 5th floor...... Either we're just exhausted or their math isn't mathing...lolRead more
