  • Kevin and Pat Come to Exuma

    31 Aralık 2023, Bahamalar ⋅ ☁️ 72 °F

We were so happy to have Kevin and Pat come for Christmas. It was such a great visit. The weather was almost perfect, and we were able to get them to all the sites. They saw little Exuma where we found my favorite beach, Pretty Molly. Kevin and Dave went fishing. Kevin and Pat got to see the pigs. We all frolicked on beaches, snorkeling and sunning. It was just a really nice time.

What Could Go Right? Again, just about everything. We made some great memories.

What Could Go Wrong? Well, we are back on the boat for 5 days until Tyler and Marissa come, and the toilet is not working right. Dave has a messy project in front of him. No fun!

  • Tyler and Marissa Come to Exuma

    12 Ocak 2024, Bahamalar ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

Tyler and Marissa visited for a week. We stayed in Exuma Point, which was like staying on a deserted island. As anyone who knows Dave and Tyler can tell you, the week was packed. There was clear bottom kayaking, hiking, boating to iguanas and snorkeling, beach walking, and even a little breaking and entering. It was an adventure. We were sad to see them go. We have another month on the island enjoying paradise before we have decisions to make about how to go home. For now, it's rest and recouping from so much fun.

What Could Go Right? The weather couldn't have been better. We really only got one day off rain.

What Could Go Wrong? We were a little far removed in our location and it did seem we spent a lot of time in the car.

  • Dave's first solo adventure

    3 Şubat 2024, Bahamalar ⋅ ☀️ 73 °F

I decided to take a short solo trip to see how manageable this boat is without a crew. Just a short trip into Elizabeth Harbor to see a few sites that we skipped over on our last visit.
Anchored in a beautiful little harbor (with no other boats in sight), and swam and walked the dogs on the little beach.
I took the dinghy out to explore a little of Crab Cay's coastline and checked out a few snorkel locations. There is an underwater cave here, tons of fish, but the cave is far too small to enter. There is water flowing out from the cave as tide was coming in, suggesting that it connects to the other side of the island. Explored a few wrecks that I'm sharing this little cove with too.
What could go right: beautiful weather without the slightest breeze, and no biting insects! Beautiful beaches and water, and stingray, turtle, fish, and starfish sightings
What could go wrong: I miss my adventure buddy!

  • Exuma Cay's Trip

    21 Şubat 2024, Bahamalar ⋅ 🌬 73 °F

We are THOROUGHLY enjoying island living. Sadly, it is almost over and with three weeks left, Dave has felt a push to get some island hopping in. This last week we took a trip to Young Island, Compass Cay, Staniel Cay, Black Point Cay, Wardrick Wells, etc. The weather was almost perfect and the wind finally gave us a reprieve to enjoy the Cay's and more of Exuma. We hiked and snorkeled and cruised and just enjoyed the beauty that surrounds us. It is a truly wonderful place. I had to commemorate Dave swimming first with a huge barracuda under the boat that followed him wherever he went, then with nurse sharks in Compass Cay. But what really surprised us was a reef shark on our snorkel in the Land and Sea park. I have never and never really wanted to be that close to a big shark in the wild. Yikes! We also saw a pod of eagle rays and so many many fish and reefs. Amazing!

What Could Go Right? We were reminded how beautiful boat sunsets and sunrises truly are. We were blessed with adventures that most people never even think about doing. The dogs got a refresher in boat life and seemed equally happy to adventure as they were to be back in the apartment roaming the beach.

What Could Go Wrong? We were graced with no mechanical issues at all. The only trouble spot we found was in Staniel Cay where the snorkeling at Thunderball Grotto was spectacular but the mooring in the middle of such a busy thoroughfare was unbearable.

We head home in 17 days. Dave has a few more adventures up his sleeve to close it all out on a bang, so there will be a few more posts. But in the end we decided to keep the boat in Exuma and come back next year later in the season to see what else these beautiful waters have to offer us in calmer weather. I can't believe this epic adventure is almost over, but I am very happy to know we will be back.

  • Cat Island

    23–26 Şub 2024, Bahamalar ⋅ ⛅ 75 °F

Cat island is about 50 miles NE of Exuma. The island is sparsly populated, but loaded with pristine white beaches, beautiful blue bays, and the tallest "mountain" in the Bahamas, (206' above sea level). There is a hermitage at the top of the hike, with a chapel made for one or two people at the most. It was a lovely visit because I got to play with a couple 5 week-old puppies at "Da Pink Chicken"Okumaya devam et
