Can only load 10 pics and I couldn’t choose just 10! It was even a foggy drizzly hike but still beautiful.
With ropes to help on the steep slope down to the river and of course a river crossing added to the adventure.Read more

  • Whitehorse

We were off grid for a few days as we travelled to Stewart BC/Hyder AK. We left Whitehorse and spent a night at Boya Lake first.
Spotted a grizzly tearing out shrubs and snacking on grubs about an hour out of Whitehorse. Then along the Cassiar highway we saw two distant moose in a marsh area.Read more

  • Stewart BC/Hyder Alaska

    September 4, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

After arriving in Stewart, we headed to Hyder, Alaska just 3k away. We went to the Fish creek wildlife viewing platform.
Both grizzly and black bears can be observed at the site as they fish for chum and pink salmon in the clear shallow waters of Fish Creek and Marx Creek.
We waited with others patiently and after 2h a grizzly came along to feed. A bit distant and nightfall was fast approaching. Will be back in the early morning for another watch.

Visited Salmon glacier in between watching bears.

  • Bear watching

    September 5, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

What an amazing morning. We stopped in at 0645 and saw a bear up stream but distant. Watched it for awhile. Then decided to drive up to the glacier and stop back in after. We timed it perfect to catch likely the same bear so close to the platform feeding on the salmon.Read more
