    Frenchmans Creek

    Having recently read the novel called Frenchmans Creek by Daphne du Maurier we needed to check out the creek where her story was based.
    A lovrly paddle up the river and pictures say it all.

    Falmouth

    With Fino safely tied up on a bouy we decide to have a day out to Falmouth. A paddle in the canoe to shore, a 15 walk up a long hill to nearest bus stop and a 35 minute bus journey so definitely a coffee stop on arrival!
    Falmouth was much better than I expected, felt like a larger Cowes with the sailing buzz, but still trying to clear up after the G7 summit - a cruise liner had been moored in port which had accommodated all the police and security staff. Not only had they temporarily closed a large section of the docks and restaurants but the ones that were open were short of stock and waiting on supplies. Not good when one of these items was lager!

    Mevagissey

    After filling up with water we head off with wind over tide for a smooth but wet ride to Mevagissey. A very tight entrance and some tricky manoeuvring tying up with an on shore wind, rocks and a very long bow sprit on the boat in front.
    Tricky day but not as bad as some...on the way over a mayday went out for a lost diver outside Plymouth and on arrival a helicopter was hovering above waiting to pick up an old chap who had fallen off the 4m quay with his bike at low tide.
    Once we had calmed down and the quay had reopened we went to explore the pretty little fishing village and buy skip a beer.    Read more

    Fowey

    After a very rolly night in Mevagissey we headed over to Fowey for a lazy day. On arrival we hear that the local yacht club and 2 restaurants are all closed because of covid. No shower for Sal and dinner on board! Fantastic afternoon just chilling in the sun whilst apparently torrential rain at home!Read more

    With rain forecast we headed out early for a walk from Polruan to Bodinick and back via Fowey. Lovely views and had to check out the smaller yacht club in Fowey.
    Afternoon entertainment was laid on by the yacht club with Sat aft racing and we had ring sideseats .Read more

    Father's day and Eric chose to head to the Yealm so he could have dinner ashore. As lovely as ever, we manage to nab a berth on the visitors pontoon and head off for a walk along the river bank to The Ship.Read more

    With rain forecast all day we head back into Plymouth to do the domestics. Fuel, washing, water and hot showers. Think they wanted us gone as we got escorted out by naval ship.

    With the tide rising we set off up stream to see how Fino performed in the rivers. A gentle cautious meander as only 1m of water under us as we went past Dittisham and onto Sharpen Point. A fab place to stop overnight but need to do shopping first!Read more

    A morning paddle and birthday breakfast before taking Ruth and Stu ashore with their cases in the canoe! We then headed off to AntiParos for the evening but it was too shallow for Carla despite what the charts said! Moving on we ended up back in Parakia where we stayed last year but Eric needed a reminder 😂.
