    Arise of Tassiezone

    Today I posted an add on Facebook that I was looking for a travel mate. Within a few hours I found someone! Haha that was really quickly. And she had almost thesame plans and dates.

    Unfortunately a few hours later I had a lot of reactions from other people who wanted to travel with Me. Some where already with 2 persons. It can be really annoying if you travel with someone random you are together for almost 2 weeks so it could be that you gonna hate something on eachother. And when you are traveling with a group you just gonna hang out with someone else.

    So I thought, maybe if we have a few persons together we can travel with a group. But I'll see for now how many reactions I get. Unfortunately I got a lot more reactions.

    So I decided to make a group with all the people I know wanna travel at thesame time.

    You probably would be thinking, why tazziezone? Well I'll probably not be able to go to campzone. So why not make our own variant of campzone. And tassie is short for tasmania. So tassiezone! Currently I just feel like y'tje (yvan) from campzone! He didn't choose to be our hero but most people chose him :-P y'tje is definitely my hero! I really like his spicy nuts!

    So I try to be the hero of this group and hopefully I Learn a lot! Also a few bad habits I gonna introduce on this group. One is the beer count system, who yells one gets the beer and he get the amount of beer that's called. Second thing is perudo.. OMG Really! Yeah really. BEST GAME EVER!

    Currently I got 8 people together. And I'm the only one with a car. Hopefully it fits :-P.    Read more

    update!

    I did some searching for how long the trip would take and how many kilometres we would make. I think it would take about 11 days and around 1500km. We will see if it is correct at the end.

    Currently we got 3 cars. The other 2 are rented and we tried to name them. Unfortunately hasn't worked out yet. I'm going with Anna. Sebastian, patricia and léa are going together and will start together withe and Anna on 28th of February. Ben, nicoletta and Josephine are going together but they Wil start one day later.

    And if you travel in Australia half of the backpackers are German. Also our group. I said that it's only allowed to speak English. Else you will be putt in a corner. :-P

    A few people where scared this would be a planned trip. Because I made some things in excel to clear my head. But we are gonna travel around and see how we go. ;-)

    Maybe we have some more people but I think this is the group and 8 persons is a perfect group, not too big and not to small!    Read more

    getting ready

    Saturday afternoon the trip finally started for me. I went to pickup a tent and Matresses from another backpacker in Sydney. The stuff is for sebastian and patricia who travel along on Tassie.

    Then I picked up fred, he's from Scotland and he traveled with me to Melbourne. Wen we got on the freeway I looked at the navigation and saw that I had to drive straight for the next 786km! That's a long way! Somewhere halfway we stopped to do a quick nap of 8 hours :-P. Next day got some fuel and drove all the way to Torquay. That's below Melbourne. And er surfed together, it was quite hard. It was messy and pretty big waves for a beginner like me. But it was good to be surfing again. Then we visited a closed aboriginal center. It was nice for 5 minutes :-D. Then on our way back to St kilda where I dropped fred of at his friend. Then I went to another guy to pickup another tent. We had a good chat and I could make a 2nd battery system in his car after tasmania so that's good!.

    Then I went to pickup my 'new' 2nd hand battery and went back to cbd Melbourne where I met Anna, who is gonna travel with me in the car on tasmania.

    Monday I saw an old friend from a half year ago in Sydney. That was cool. In the evening I topped up my fuel, it's 25 cents cheaper in Melbourne then tasmania. And went on the ferry. I was just in time! I was really lucky because when I was on the ferry they closed everything and then they went away within 1 minute after I entered the boat!. I had to eat all my apple's because it's not allowed to bring fruit and vegetables to tasmania. Just as Petrol. I told I only had 1 can of petrol so I had to empty it in the car a bit and trow the rest away and fill it with water. The asked me if I had an 'speaker' at least that was wat I understood. So I said yes and I showed my speaker. And they were like, why are you showing this!? But they ment 'spear-gun'. Haha woops!

    When I was on the boat I met 2 other backpackers from Canada and Brazil. It was cool to hang out with them. And ofcourse they were placed next to me in the boat.!, definitely no coincidence :-P. I hope I see them again in Tassie. I had a recliner seat and that was really comfortable to sleep in! So I had a good rest.    Read more

    Tassie day 1

    I woke up in the ferry and I had to get my stuff together and go to my car. When I was finally off the boat they asked if I ate all the apples and I had to wash my car because it was Dirty. And they don't want you to bring unwanted stuff to Tassie. And then at 7:00 am I was in devonport. I'm total it took 12 hours to board the ship to exit the ship.

    First thing I got coffee and then drove to the other side of tasmania. It was only 280 km and 3:15 hours drive! That's not too long.

    I picked up Anna from the airport and we went first to the hungry Jacks to get cheap coffee. But ofcourse the coffee machine was broken! But we got free fries and a free soda! Then we met the others at Coles and got some groceries.

    Afterwards we went to the k-mart to get some stuff. At least I had everything but the others had to get some stuff for their trip.

    Then we finally left. Inside Hobart we went to an cave, it was a really nice place. Luckily it was low tide else we couldn't get there.

    Then we went to an old famous bridge and that was nice to see. There were some goose running after eachother. And then they went away from eachother and both came back with 3 friends. Haha that was so funny to see!!

    At last we went to a free campsite and cooked dinner there, had some beers and played perudo. It's a really good group. Every person is different but we can go along with eachother. See what we get tomorrow!    Read more

    day 2 - freycinet national park

    We woke up pretty late and made breakfast, in the end we left about 10 am. But everyone exept me was tired so they needed their sleep.

    We had a few nice stopping points on the way. It was all 10 or 15 minutes drive so that was really short. First a good lookout, then a kind of blowhole where the waves slashing into the rocks. That was really nice! Afterwards we went to an arch that was nice!

    Later in the afternoon we went to the remarkable cave. And it was remarkable! You could just walk all the way through the cave. It was like 50 meters long and had 3 entrances. Also over there I saw a kind of plant with green tentacles. They were moving but no idea what it was.

    We camped at the same spot as last night. I set my alarm on 2:30 am. Because by then we should be able to see the Aurora australis (southern light). And I went out of bed and there were all clouds. But I sit down anyway to see if I could see it. When I looked to the south it was just a tiny bit white. And after an half hour there were brighter white stripes slowly coming and within an 5 minutes I could see the light a lot brighter. I ran back to wake the others and we looked to the light. It was white and not green as you would expect because human eyes detect the colour differently. The light was not bright enough to make a picture of it. But we were really lucky to see it. It's not you can see that every day! And at 4 am I went to sleep again.    Read more

    day 3 - mount amos

    We did woke up a bit later than planned but we have time so. In the morning we drove around 2 and a half hour to Coles Bay. Up there we did the hike to mount amos to have an awsome view. It took us1:15 to get up. Total climb was 465 meters. And decent we did in 45 min. So that was not to bad. It was definitely a good exercise! When we went up there were some clouds but once a while we had an clear view and it was stunning! We also had lunch on top of the mountain.

    At the end we drove around 1 hour to a campsite and made dinner and put up our camp. Unfortunately it rained a bit when we came there but after a while it was dry so pretty good. Only thing was that there are clouds and if there weren't we probably could see the southern lights even better than yesterday. But it's okay    Read more

    day 4 - Bay of fires

    We started to drive around 10 and went to some lookouts, it was nice to see. In the afternoon had lunch at some park and afterwards we went to the bay of fires. It was really cool to see all the stones with the red stuff on it!

    After Bay of fires we went up the Victoria mountain, we were driving in the clouds when we got to the top. We did a short hike trough a forrest. It looked really spooky with the fog between the trees. At the lookout it looked first we wouldn't see anything but luckily there wasn't fog in front of the waterfall. It was really nice. The whole road on the mountain that we drove was gravel. So I'm glad the others also had a 4wd.

    day 5 - launceston

    In the morning I did a short hike. It was nice to walk around a small Lake. Then some Australian guy from Queensland came to talk with us that was really cosy. He did also farmwork and maybe had some work for us when we go to Queensland. So we'll see.

    First we went to launceston, that was a really nice area! All Stones and a big River. Also a nice hike of 45 minutes all around. We also visited a place called grindelwald, that looked just like Switzerland.

    Afterwards we went to a park to make Lunch and there was a lookout to a big dam.

    At the end we drove to a town called pinguin, how cool is that! They had a statue of a penguin, but the size was a bit disappointing. I expected something like 4 or 5 meters but it was just a bit more than 2.

    At the end. We did an amazing coastal drive and ending up at the nicest beach in Australia. And 9th place of nicest beaches from the world. We were lucky there was still room for us on the campspot!    Read more

    day 6 - 'the nut'

    This morning I woke up on the beautiful beach it was a really nice view.

    First we went to a few caves. That was okay and the hike was nice, then to a lighthouse. The lookout over there was nice.

    Before lunch we climbed the nut. It is like a big round flat rock rising out of the sea total 143 meters high. It was a steep climb but it was good! On the top we could just walk around and enjoy the view. Also saw some a animals there.

    Afterwards we went to see some waterfalls that was okay and it was next to the road so that's easy.

    In the en of the day we found a nice campspot and we made a fire there. officially not allowed because it's summer. But anyway it went well.    Read more

    day 7 - cradle mountain

    March 6, 2017 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

    For the first time this trip we went left the campspot earlier. Around 9:30 so still not really early. It took us an hour to drive to cradle mountain. From there we went with the shuttle bus up to where all the hikes started.

    From here on we walked first all around the dove Lake (2 hour walk). That was a nice easy walk and we ended up at an shed next to the lake were we had lunch. Then we climbed to the top of the Marions mountain. It was a steep climb and I did it in 22 minutes. It was around 250 meters higher than the lake. Up there the hike was stunning! After a while we hiked back to the start point (1,5 hour walk). On all the hikes the surrounding was changing from forrest into beachside into open land. It was so different and so beautiful! In the end we didn't want to wait for the shuttle so we walked back on an walking track back to the car(1 hour walk, 5,5km).

    We where all tired from all the walking today so we just went for an hour drive to the next campspot and made dinner there. We tried to make soup with a bit of spaghetti but at the end it was spaghetti with soup because else it would be way to less. Anna is a real big eater, same as me..

    In total I think I hiked around 20 km the whole day and that took about 5:30 hours. With sometimes really steep Hills and decents. So thats a worthy workout!.    Read more
