    Vērmane Garden & Mikhail Tall

    Just a small garden and then randomly found a small statue of Mikhail Tall :D (Chess world champion from Riga/USSR), maybe ill be going to his old home later. Furtherly, it was just a nice and quiet little park.

    Latvian History museum P1: Constitution

    The first room of the musem was all about the making of the constitution of 1922 (+changes after independence) and the timeline of it, it was made in a very cool manner with screen where people are debating about forming the constitution (the proces was heavily transcripted) and you could see some of the old referendums with their arguments for or against where you could vote in as well.
    De eerste kamer van het Museum ging over het maken van de Letse grondwet van 1922 en de veranderingen na onafhankelijkheid. Het had een tijdlijn en was heel erg cool gemaakt, met schermen waar mensen aan het debateren waren in die tijd (het proces werd heel goed beschreven). Daarbij kon je goed zien welke referenda er waren met de argumenten voor beide kanten. Je kan er zelfs op stemmen!    Les mer

    Riga city center

    I realised that I havent been to the ciry center yet so I decided to take a look, there was a cute souvenir shop and then just some squares and a shopping mall. I gotta say it looks very nice.
    I realiseerde me dat ik nog niet naar het centrum geweest ben , dus ik besloot om maar even te kijken. Er is een leuk souvenierwinkeltje, wat stadspleintjes en een winkelcentrum. Ik moet zeggen dat het er leuk uitzietLes mer

    I saw a small restaurant that like the name suggests, makes Latvian cuisine. I got some rye bread at first and then the Stroganoff. I gotta say that it tastes pretty good and would go here more often if I was here, sadly the menu isnt too big tho.
    I zag een klein restaurantje that zoals de naam als zegt: Letse cuisine maakt. I nam eerst wat Rye brood en toen nam ik een stroganoff. Ik moet zeggen dat het best goed smaaktje en zou hier vaker naartoe gaan, jammer genoeg is het menu niet super groot.    Les mer

    Kronvalda park

    After food, I wanted to go back to the appartment for a bit before going on a walk in the evening, but I knew that I didnt go to the Kronvalda yet so I decided to go there first

    Evening walk/ avond park

    I wanted to walk a bit more during the evening and go further into the outskirts of the city, I found some parks to go through and then a stadium. I went through the following:
    I wou in de avond nog even een wandeling maken en ging naar de buitenrand van de stad. Ik zagbeen aantal parkjes en een stadion. Ik ben door het volgende heen gegaan.

    Last hours in Riga

    I wanted to stay in the city for a bit longer so I decided to take a later train instead of the bus at 17:30, so thats why I went to the garden first and then I was just walking around the city center seeing some places I havent seen yet. It was fun to see a bit more of Riga.
    I wou nog ietsje langer in de stad zijn dus ok besloot om de trein van 17:30 te pakken in plaats van de bus. Dit is waarom ik eerst naar de tuin ging en toen ging ik ff door de stad heen wandelen naar plekjes die ik nog niet gezien had. Het was leuk om nog iets meer van Riga te zien!    Les mer

    Took a walk in the evening to see what the city center is like, its kinda small tbh and not a lot to do but it looks nice atleast.
    Ging voor een wandeling in de avond om te kijken naar hoe het stadscentrum eruit ziet. Het is best wel klein, maar het ziet er tenminste leuk uitLes mer

    Cēsis castle 1

    The ticket was 10 euro and with it, you could both go to the castle and the museum about the history of Cēsis. This is the outside area in between te main walls, where there was a jewellery smith, weapon area (i.e. trebuchet), workshop and a small garden where they grow crops they grew 300 years ago as well
    De ticket was 10 euro en daarmee kan je naar het kasteel en naar het museum over de geschiedenis van Cēsis gaan. Dit is het buitengebied tussen de hoofdmuren. Hier is een juwelensmith, wapens (bv trebuchet), wat workshops en een kleine tuin met gewassen die ze 300 jaar geleden ook geplant hebben.    Les mer

    You can see the courtyard of the castle here, there were 4 towes before, but they were destroyed throughout the centuries, there is also a bit about after the Russians finally took Cesis Castle from the Livonian order that 300 people commited suicide via explosion and that some who tried to survive were killed by the explosion anyway.
    Hier zie je de binnenplaats van het kasteel. Eerst waren er 4 torens, maar die zijn door de loop van de eeuwen vernietigd. Er is ook een verhaal over dat toen de Russen Cesis Castle van de Livonian order overnam, dat 300 mensen zelfmoord plegen via een explosie. Een aantal die probeerde te ontsnappen zijn alsnog overleden.    Les mer

    CC3: West Tower / Westerse Toren

    Most of the exhibition here was in de western tower oppossed to the southern one. There was a cool video which shows the history ofnthe castle with how its made, some fires thay destroyed it and more. Here is a small part of it.
    Het grootste gedeelte van de tentoonstelling is in de westerse toren in tegenstelling tot de zuidelijke toren. Er was een coole video over de geschiedenis van het Kasteel, hoe het gemaakte en vernietigd is door bijvoorbeeld brand. Hier is een klein stukje van de video    Les mer
