Day 25 - Cooler days
29. september 2024, Italien ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C
For the first time I almost forgot to do a write up of the day! I was just about to get into bed and I remembered, so now instead of reading Vera to help send me off to sleep, I’m blogging from bed.
I had the best nights sleep I’ve had so far of the trip last night, those Aperol spritz’s and bottle of wine knocked me right out.
We’d set an alarm for 6:30 this morning as Charlie wanted to get some exercise in early doors and I wanted to get a load of washing done early so we could hang it to dry during the day. It was forecast for 19 and sunny today, but the thing about being surrounded by mountains is that they block out a lot of sun. It might have been warm up one of those mountains, but down here it’s been rather windy and cool. Still not awful conditions for drying clothes.
So after breakfast had gone down, Charlie did a camp tabata workout, I gave moral support and coaching from the sidelines with a cup of tea. While he was cooling down and showering, I took Marla off for a wander around the place to see what we could see. We followed the footpaths and walkways through the nature reserve that follows the shore of the lake and watched some paragliders who were having fun over the lake, then landing in the lake (after watching the first person splash down, I realised they were doing their water landings on purpose!).
Back to camp and we decided to have a lunchtime main meal at the camp bar / restaurant. They are open for dinner, but not until 6:30 and that’s almost bedtime for us 😂
I had 4 cheese pizza and Charlie had a vegetable pizza (although he had tried to order the vegetarian burger, but that’s a different story altogether). Both our pizzas were delicious and even though we were sat in the shade and it was very cold, we couldn’t resist having an ice cream dessert each. Charlie had the fruit salad which came with five different scoops of ice cream, I had three different flavours, amaretto poured over, amaretti biscuits and round wafers - best ice cream ever!
Back to camp to digest all of that, then Charlie took Marla off for her afternoon walk and I hit the shower. Tea was a couple of rolls that I had bought this morning, they’d gone a bit stale by tea time though. We caught up on some Taskmaster this evening, put van WiFi isn’t working still but we bought a spare dongle to pop our SIM card in, just in case and that’s worked perfectly.
We’ve also mostly packed away everything ready for travelling tomorrow, it’s going to be another fairly busy day out on the road.Læs mere
