• Day 64 - Camping Le Paradis

    November 7, 2024 in France ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We finally slept in past 7am - yay!

We had breakfast, packed the van up and then took Marla off for a good walk in the woods behind the campsite. She had a nice time and we managed to keep her out of all the water / mud puddles.

We headed straight to the biggest supermarket to restock the fridge with cheese and the cupboards with wine!

On the road and today it was a lot of motorway driving… we drove for a while, then stopped at a picnic area for a quick lunch stop. I thought we would get away without having to fill up with diesel again today, but about 20km from our destination the little orange light came on and we ended up having to find a station to top up. We pulled into the first one we could, which turned out to be a truckers only station, no problem - I can play with the big boys but all the pumps were out of action. A nice French trucker told us there’s another station just a little way up the road so off we went and filled up.

We arrived at camp just after 4pm, the owners are British and very lovely. Although they were pretty surprised to see us as we weren’t booked in until tomorrow…. Charlie made a bit of a mistake with his dates it seems…. Good job we were going to ask to stay another night anyway!
We are all in need of a break from driving and this site is lovely, and even has a dog field for Marla to have a good run around in (although we have to make sure the chickens are in their enclosure before we go barrelling in!).

We set the van up, and then realised we are out of water… oh well - we can top up tomorrow when we head off to the vets to sort Marla’s paperwork for coming home.

We were even given a welcome drink, in a proper glass! It was quite a novelty. Dinner tonight was burger and chips made in the van.
