Day -1 Bayonne

After a long day flying we landed in Biarritz where we meet up with a bunch of fellow pilgrims trying to figure out how to get to Bayonne and the train that will take us to St Jean Pied de Port andBaca lagi
Day-0 St Jean

We traveled by a real cute train from Bayonne to St Jean. On our arrival we followed a line of pilgrims headed straight for the official pilgrims’ office where we obtained our ‘credentials’. WeBaca lagi
Day 1 St.Jean to St.Michel

So we started our Camino today...finally!
We left our wonderful albergue this morning at 8:30 making a steady (sometimes steep) climb to Borda, our stop for the night. Only 9km but what a climb. OurBaca lagi
Day 2 Hola Roncesvalles

What a day! We left our albergue about 8:00 with a packed lunch and went up and up and yep more up for all 12km and then what goes up must come down so 4km straight down (of course we mistakenly tookBaca lagi
Day 3 Zubiri

Went to the Pilgrim Mass at Roncesvalles Monastery last night and the Cardinal giving the service blessed us, hope it helps.🤗

Day 4 Pamplona - Ole🐂

They let us in😁
Today was the hardest day at 23km and we are feeling it. Met up with our Aussie friend Jo who we walked most of the day with. Made a slight off-course trip to Zabaldika to see aBaca lagi
Day 5 Puenta la Reina

So we climbed to windy Alto de El Perdon today. Beautiful way up, not so much going down. We are VERY lucky that we've had no rain. All these ups and downs would have been very unpleasant to say theBaca lagi
Day 6 Estella

Our new albergue last night had only 7 people so it was nice and quiet. The surprise breakfast let us start our 24km walk early so it was nice checking in today at 2pm. A pretty uneventful day exceptBaca lagi
Day 7 Los Arcos

Today the terrain is changing.... we've been on street paths, rocky paths, gravel, dirt and cobble path. Today we were on farm paths. Walking 22km among the poppies, wheat and grapes fields.

Day 8 Viana

Olive trees! There are tons here and they make the most tasty oil. We decides not to take a rest day tomorrow so we walked only 18 km today. Checked in just after noon. Tomorrow we plan on 20km. WeBaca lagi
Day 9 Navarrete and 10 Najera

Heading to Naverette was mainly vineyards and pavement. A somewhat easy 24km walk but our feet and legs still hurt from the daily pounding. No blisters anymore, just aching muscles.

Day 11 Santo Domingo and Day 12 Belorado

Day 11 was sunny but the nasty wind kept us cold. A very pleasant 22km to Santo Domingo.
The only pleasant thing about Day 12 was stopping in Granon. The rest was feet pounding the gravel path besideBaca lagi
Day 13 San Juan de Ortega

What a lovely morning leaving Belorado. Had a full breakfast at our albergue with eggs and bacon. Haven't had that since home. And our host made us bocodillos to have at lunch. Just when we think theBaca lagi
Day 14 and 15 Burgos

We've arrived in Burgos and taking a rest day tomorrow so no walking with a pack until Friday.
Today was supposed to be 23km but with all the city walking to our hotel it ended to be a 27km day.Baca lagi

Today we begin the dreaded Mesaeta, mostly flat, mainly farmland and little shade for the next 10 days. Seems perfect to me? 22km today and people are having difficulties finding accommodations soBaca lagi

On Day 18 we woke up to a surprise ascent that reminded us of the Pyrenees. A 26 km day that included a walk by the old canal into Fromista. Alot of churches have stork nests on their steeples, I'veBaca lagi

We arrived in Leon after a 25km day. We are ready for a rest day tomorrow. Because almost everyone takes a rest day in Leon, Day 24 had us catching up to people we haven't seen in awhile. Really niceBaca lagi
Day 26 Astorga Day 27 Rabanal

What a beautiful city Astorga is. So much to see! 25km day. Had a wonderful meal and met new Pilgrims at our albergue that started their journey in Leon. Only their 2nd day, ha amateurs🤣

We are back in grape country. Cherry trees and roses everywhere. Our tour of the castle took 2 hrs out of our day but still managed to check in at 3:30 after 25 km. The temperature is rising, I thinkBaca lagi

Day 30 was one of our favorite mornings so far. Beautiful and quiet 10 km through vineyards then we headed for the pavement. 13 km of pavement walking had my feet burning but all was good the nextBaca lagi
