Explored the villages around Antigua. Up and down and around the side of an active volcano that was rumbling. We thought it was thunder until a local corrected me. Lava was last visible in February, but this one is rumbling more and more.Read more
We arrived in Antigua in the middle of a downpour after riding in the backseat on a very curvy road for 2 hours in rush hour traffic. The city is both beautiful and historic, consisting of maze-like roads, flanked on either side with concrete, stucco walls. The historic area is majestic with its reconstructed cathedral fronts to show what the city looked like before it was laid to ruins by a huge earthquake years ago. The ruins lay untouched just on the other side of the reconstructed areas.Read more
