    Arriving in Munich

    On Friday evening we took the night bus for 12 hours to Munich 😄 We spent the day walking around the city, drinking Bavarian beer with Brezels and enjoying the evening at a summer festival (Tollwood) which had many cute stalls, lots of food and entertainment! So far our impressions of Munich are great and we are excited to spent a long sunny week here - escaping the average weather in Amsterdam ☀️☀️✨Läs mer

    Exploring München

    It feels like summer!! A lovely 26 degree day ☀️ We met Christian and his kids for lunch (some friends of Joshes family) and we really enjoyed chatting and getting to know each other. We hope to see them again on Friday. We explored many churches, which each had unique styles.     Day two!

    In the 30 degree heat we set off on the train to Dachau. We visited the concentration camp there - a very heavy and surreal experience. There was a lot of information to read about and listen to, so we were learning a lot about the history which was really interesting. Being there definitely had a feeling that we will never forget. On the brighter side, we enjoyed the afternoon sun at the Freibad also in Dachau 🌞 and afterwards we met with Ulla and some of her good friends for an evening at a classical orchestra concert 😊Läs mer

    Museum day

    Deutsches Museum day! It’s a huge museum so we already knew we were in for a big day of taking in lots of interesting information. My favourite part of the museum was probably reading about different planets and seeing Gutenbergs printing press. Joshes favourite part was the aviation history. After feeling tired and overstimulated, we left the museum a little bit smarter 😆

    The afternoon was spent strolling around the city. We found a cool board game store where we both picked a new game each! 😁✨    Läs mer

    Day trip to Freising

    Today we took the train to Freising which is a very cute town outside of the city. We were quickly impressed after visiting the cathedral - a beautiful rococo styled church. Because it was the 1300 year anniversary of Saint Corbinian arriving at the settlement, many parts of the church were accessible, including the crypt, the archives room, the library, the special paintings collection and the shrine. We spent over an hour exploring this incredible space which I will forever be in awe of all its immaculate details ✨

    After a lunch stop, we made our way up to the hill where the oldest brewery in the world is situated, Weihenstephan. We enjoyed the nature walk, providing some nice views over the city. There was also remains from an extremely old well dating back to 811 CE which is known to have healing water 💧    Läs mer

    Tutzing!

    Yesterday was the perfect day for our trip to Tutzing 🌞

    We explored around the lake area, stopping for our picnic lunch along the way to take in the stunning views. In the afternoon we met up with Daniela, her Mum and her son Leon at the Südbad. It was the perfect spot to soak up the sun and go swimming. We really loved seeing Daniela’s home town and catching up together!Läs mer

    Last day

    A lovely sunny last day here in Munich for us!
    We visited the city centre for the last time, stopping at the Residenz garden for our picnic lunch 🥙 then we made our way to Westpark which had many beautiful gardens including a very pretty Chinese garden.

    In the evening Christian picked us up and we were invited to their place for dinner. They put on a delicious BBQ for us and we had a wonderful time chatting together ⭐️

    Big thanks to Hans and Franz for letting us look after their apartment for the week so we could enjoy this beautiful city! I’m sure we will be back sometime soon 💛    Läs mer
