2024 ⭐️✨!!!

Feels slightly surreal to be starting this year off having reached some of our biggest goals for 2023 - Josh got into his dream university, we successful made the move to the Netherlands and I secured the beginnings of design work here as well. Lots to celebrate and be thankful for 🤍

This first week of January has been a busy one settling back into routine in Amsterdam. We got to experience the craziness of the Dutch fireworks happening on new years (they really do love their fireworks here) I started my working routine as well and getting used to the long bike in and out of the city everyday.

And to top off the end of this busy week, we completed my application for a new permit/visa 🥳🥳 it was a pretty big process getting everything organised so it is a relief to finally submit, fingers crossed for positive news in the coming months 🙏Weiterlesen

Quiet week

This week has been a quiet one ☺️
Josh and I have been able to bike into Amsterdam together for work and University - which has made the bike ride feel much shorter as we can chat while we ride! So ideal.

I’ve had a really amazing two weeks so far with my internship, learning so much already and even getting straight into client meetings as well. Had some very positive feedback on my first piece of work so feeling like everything is going well ✨

This was Joshes first week back at Uni, things are going good and Josh has been asked to play in a few different projects which is really awesome 🤩 straight back into it!Weiterlesen

Slow winter days

Hello, it’s been awhile since we did an update 😅 winter months are pretty slow here but we’ve been keeping well and enjoying our routines. We had a week of snow which was quite fun, obviously very chilly though. Josh had a rough week of biking in on icy paths to uni but made it through with only a few bruises 🤕 which was actually from being hit by a car (not his fault at all, and he is okay and unharmed). Lucky for me, I was able to work from home meaning I could stay cosy and warm inside.

We don’t have anything else to update you all on but we’re keeping busy, happy and enjoying the winter (surprisingly more than I thought I would) 🥰Weiterlesen

Another sunny week with ‘warmer’ winter temperatures has felt like a treat!

Josh got his first set of grades back which he’s pleased with the results - a great start to the uni year 😌 Work for me has been going well, I officially finished my first month so my workmates took me out for lunch! It’s crazy to think it’s only been one month — we’ve really created a lot of cool projects in a short time (which hopefully I can share very soon!)

I got the sweetest gift from one of my best friends in NZ, she sent me a Miffy bunny (from a Dutch popular tv series) the best surprise, and a nice reminder of things back home 💛

On Friday we joined in on Ben and Christines (landlords) small party which was fun! We enjoyed catching up with people we’d met in summer and updating them on things now that we’re more settled in. Ben even let of fireworks 🌟🌟 a fun week to start February off withWeiterlesen

Sick week 🤒

Unfortunately at the end of last week Josh came down sick with a nasty cold he caught from uni, so he had a few days off to rest and get better. And of course eventually I caught it too, so it’s been a very quiet week. I was still able to work (but from home for half the week) which was ideal. There’s really not much else to add since it’s been quiet here but on the plus side we’ve noticed the weather getting warmer and even seen some daffodils blooming which has me so excited for spring 🌷🌼Weiterlesen

Recovery week

Hello! This week was similar to the last, very quiet and still recovering from being sick. I worked from home the entire week which allowed me to rest more. Josh continued on with Uni like normal - all going well :)

Our friend Tristan had a small celebration for his birthday so on Thursday I joined them in the city at Hannekes Boom, which I feel is the ‘Smash Palace’ of Amsterdam (Smash Palace is a cool beer garden in Christchurch). Just another week

This week has been pretty quiet as well, but with nice weather which has been great 😊 it’s getting lighter earlier as well which soon means no more biking in the dark and being able to catch the last glimpse of daylight before it turns to night. Work has been productive and fun like every other week, and Josh has had a busy week working (he’s got a uni break so was able to pick up more shifts) and we’ve been delighted with lots of treats from his work too 😋😋Weiterlesen

And just like that it’s already March of this year. Somehow I find that mind blowing but every year it’s the same, it all goes so fast 😅

This week we were blessed with more spring-like weather and lots of lovely colourful sunsets. On Saturday we went into the city for the day and enjoyed the sunshine ☀️ so nice to see the city becoming more vibrant with lots of flowers for sale and people around (not that there is ever a shortage of that). We spent the day roaming through interesting second-hand stores, finding everything from funny shaped sun glasses to racks upon racks of old leather jackets. Josh got lucky and scored himself 3 new tops, a knitted vest we will share and I got a blue blouse with pretty ribbons. A very successful day, happy all around ✨✨Weiterlesen

Another great week with nice weather 🌷
On Tuesday evening we went and saw the movie Dune 2 in cinema with our friend Tristan. A great continuation of the movie series - so cinematic and super high quality music and production! Work and University are going well for both of us, just the same as always - keeping us busy 😄

Josh picked up another shift at work so he had work on both Saturday and Sunday. I spent both days in Amsterdam because the weather was so nice, took some time to check out new areas and explore some of my favourites too. Of course I had to stop by Joshes work for a good coffee and some tarts 😋 have definitely noticed how much more familiar the city is for me, officially don’t need maps to navigate my way through the centre 😅😅Weiterlesen
