Final packing

Getting out the thermals and wet weather gear.... the forecast is cold, wet and windy.
Hitting the road.

Breakfast has been had and the bikes loaded and ready to go - off around Oz.
First stop Geelong

Well, lovely and sunny through the city and we made it to Little River before the rain and wind arrived. Now sunny again ... typical Melbourne weather.
Colac

Lots of road works... dribbling along at forty for ages.....rain on and off. Cleared farming land all around with lots of cows.
Camperdown for lunch

The bakery is great with minestrone soup and it’s warm inside.
Port fairy

The YHA looks good. Staying in a dorm at the backpackers. Great rates.
Refueled and ready for day 2

Windy and wet night but very comfy for us at the YHA. On the road again
Portland

The first town settled in Victoria. Time for breakfast and watching a large cargo ship coming into port.
Dartmoor

Nice little town. Wonderful wood carvings all through the town. Good free camping area.
Millicent

Kingston

Foreshore Caravan Park in Kingston for the night. Tents are pitched and we are gong to cook dinner here. The park cat ‘fabio’ also wanted some food.
Loaded and off to Adelaide

Packed up under the roof of the kitchen so mostly dry. Adelaide here we come. Went past the BIG Lobster......

Top box recovered!!

The top box off Allan’s bike came off, had to back track to find and miraculously it was scratched but still intact on the roadside. Reattached and off we go again.

This town bills itself as being “half way across Australia” Also has a BIG galah ...Well what else would you expect .. also found out later it has magnificently painted silos.

Arrived at Aunt Lydia’s late in the afternoon. Had a wonderful night having dinner and talking to family. Lydia’s brother Ted and his wife came over with their son Peter. Ella also dropped by.Les mer

After a terrific egg & bacon breakfast (Lydia also gave us some home made biscuits to take on our travels) - we loaded the bikes, looked at the wild life and the garden and headed off to see Clem atLes mer

Penong SA

Penong caravan park for the night. It’s not every day that you have a screen door for the tent site. Penong has a windmill museum and the largest old ‘Comet’ windmill in Australia.
