PORTUGAL 2023

This is an early start. Our train is scheduled to leave at 05:32. We Uber to the train station and don’t see it listed on the departures. There is nobody around to ask about the status of our train. Another couple is here as well, and they are wondering about the same train. They speak English and as it turns out are from Calgary too. The girl is member of our gym.

A nice lady who speaks Portuguese as well as English and is trying to take the same train is able to discern the plan. We are to take a bus to Aveiro and board the train there due to track maintenance that is happening between Porto and Aveiro. Following her lead, we get on a bus and end up boarding the train in Aveiro. The rest of the day is without drama. The train ride south of Lisbon is scenic, sunny and inviting. In Tavira we find our very pleasant Air BnB ready for us.En savoir plus
