    The Abbey was established in 529 AD with 13,000 acres. It takes $1m to maintain the abbey each year. Recently all the roofs were replaced, at the cost of $17m. The church was built in 1083 and most of the property was lost in a fire in 1793. There is one Abbot ( the CEO of the Abbey) and 35 monks living on the property. The youngest is 25 years old, the oldest is 87. Their economics come from forestry, the orchard the vineyards, hunting and fishing licenses and 3-5 day retreats.Read more
