Gjirokaster Castle

After a short walk up to the castle, nowhere near as steep as Berat, we got to the castle. It had a utilitarian feel as it was in use as a prison until the 60s by the communist regime.

We enjoyed wandering around and exploring the place, there were musuems we could have visited but decided against as they were an extra cost. Although the castle was interesting to see, the views were amazing and definitely a highlight of the visit.Read more
