Camino Portugese

Vila Cha day 2

Day 2 all along the Atlantic Ocean, warm, sunny, very different from the French Way, which we started one year ago. It was rainy, muddy. Just noticed I'm eating the same shirt!
Vila Cha

Agucadoura

Another exceptional walk along the coast, 11 miles, small churches and lots of "bom caminhos" from the locals, pastries, Cafe con leche
Marinhas

We walked through a eucalyptus Grove that smelled like Pacifica and I found a dog that reminded me of Cody ❤️
Viana do Castelo

Longest walk so far, 13 miles, through eucalyptus groves, up hills, small villages. Many churches big and small.
Vila Pria de Ancora

Beautiful day through forests, stone villages, cobblestone paths (hard on the feet) ended up by the sea after the last 3 miles in the rain.
Caminha

Short walk, no rain, invigorating breeze, felt unusually good :) 2 night stay in this lovely seaside apartment, our balcony view
Vila Nova de Cerveira

Trail was mostly cobblestone, through small villages, lots of uphill, a little eucalyptus forest. Walked with 2 ladies from Toronto which made the 9+ miles go faster. Our hostel is an old refurbishedBaca lagi
Valenca, Portugal

Our last night in Portugal. Walked into town through a castle with a moat, more cobblestone streets. Rained on us for 2 hours but we're mostly dry and happy.
O'Porrino

We had the most rain today but it wasn't unpleasant. Left Portugal over the International Bridge. Forested path until a long section of ugly industrial park, had peanut butter and bread in a bustopBaca lagi
Redondela

We were only lost in the rain for 15 minutes this morning. Feeling blessed, the crown that came off (my tooth) 2 nights ago was fixed by a nice young dentist 5 mins from our hostel. $43.00 with x-ray.Baca lagi
Pontevedra, Spain

Got lost along the highway, much more rain, boots completely soaked, but it was still a pleasant day. Trail angels set up a nice covered shelter where we ate and drank and had internationalBaca lagi
Monesterio de Armenteira

Pontevedra is a beautiful city with ruins and lots of old stone structures, hope to spend more time there someday. Today was the biggest, steepest climb of the whole camino, 13+ miles. Serious 2 1/2Baca lagi
Vilanova de Arousa

Rain turned into sunshine! Tho very muddy, a beautiful morning on the walk of stone and water portion of the camino. The rivers are overflowing and loud, many old abandoned stone millhouses alongside.Baca lagi
Vilagarcia de Arousa

Many pilgrims take the boat to Padron from here but we're walking, will add 2 days to our journey. Slight mess up on our accomodations but solved it by hiking to city center, then back 2 miles to ourBaca lagi
Catiora

Beautiful walk along the beach, through forests, industrial parks, small towns. We saw a sign for petroglyphs and decided to chance the uphill climb. We were rewarded with a really cool area you couldBaca lagi
Padron

Woke up in our most beautiful casita, our hosts left a big wooden box with anything you could want for breakfast. Sad to, leave but we walked off trail a bit to see the Viking tower ruins from theBaca lagi
Rua de Francos

Lovely walk, warm but overcast, some uphill, lots of hamlets and deserted places but more pilgrims on the road. This last hostel feels very rural and comfortable and has its own food truck.
Santiago de Compestela

A surprisingly beautiful walk through nature, then the suburbs of SDC. Arrived sweaty but triumphant! It truly was a buen camino. It's 80' F here today. 🏆
Finistierre

Bus trip to "the end of the earth". Some pilgrims continue to the west most point of Spain, Finistierre, and then on to Muxia, then back to Santiago de Compestella. I hope to walk it someday.
Porto

End of a long walk and a fun trip. Kar Bear going home and I'm busing it to Lisbon to meet the gang
