Dinner, 17 types of dumpling, all shaped to look like what's inside. Then a cultural show which was very colourful.
Arrived in Xi'an

After a very long day of travelling, arrived safely and am thinking about breakfast.

Early start from X'ian and arriving in Jiayuguan on the bullet train, to snow.

Lots of stepping

Today we visited a recreation of part of the Great Wall. LOTS of steps (no phone photos tho). Then to the Jiayuguan Fortress.
Danxia geological park

Travelled 280kms to see the Rainbow Mountains. Road trip truck stop. Lots of stepping again, but amazing sites.
Magao grottos and Dunhuang

Today's trip was 320km West to the Magao grottos (no photos allowed inside) and to our hotel which has a bed and not a slab of granite, hooray!
Dun Huang

Sand dunes and 🐫 was the activity of the day. Tomorrow we get onto another fast train headed to Turfan.

Yar city

This morning we went to ancient Yar city. Ruins of a city which existed from the 5th to the 13th century. It was duug into the ground, rather than built up.

This morning we visited the famous livestock market but I didn't buy a camel today...
Old Kashgar

Today we explored old Kashgar and had a huge lunch, traditional Uyghur lunch. Getting used to chilli 🌶 but not too much!
And we'll be appearing on local TV apparently.
Heading home

Yesterday we travelled back to Xi'an to start our trip home. We passed over the largest inland lake in China.
I have lots of photos and stories to share, met some great people and are some great food.
