• Testing the water- in the Atlantic

    September 21 in Portugal ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

After the usual ablutions for me and today’s walking clothes, I noticed that it wasn’t long to sunset and so I wandered no more than 10m from my hostel’s front door to reach the sea wall with access down to a section of beach.

Soon enough, the sky turned orange as the sun eventually slipped below the horizon. It really was quite beautiful to sit in silence watching the scene develop.

There were just a handful of folk on or near the beach, although maybe the spectacle wears off if you live here!

I decided it would be a waste of a lovely quiet beach if I didn’t venture across the sand to the water’s edge. It would also potentially be good for my feet too.

I can report that the Atlantic was not warm, even after the heat of the day. What was much warmer was the concrete sea wall I’d been sitting on to watch the sunset. As the air finally cooled a little (down to about 24C) the concrete was still toasty warm.

I then took a wander along the promenade in search of a restaurant and some dinner.
