Matsushima

Matsushima, one of the three great scenic spots of Japan was my primary target of the day, originally I wanted to go a day later, but the sunshine changed my plans, and I took a local train from the nearby station to reach it after around 40 minutes. Right out of the station I purchased a ticket for a roundtrip boat ride into the bay of Matsushima. The sun was dazzling, the boat trip was very relaxing and many of the islands and special rock formations were explained in detail. After the 50min cruise, sun was almost ready to set, and I spent the remainder of daylight to visit some of the shore attached islands with shrines on it. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and I enjoyed having the island to myself.
