    Chefchaouen, Morocco

    April 28 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

Today we spent the day with Tom and Catherine doing a private tour of Chefchaouen.

We loved Chaouen!!! Our guide was local native from town who walked with us all day long. We had a delicious lunch locally before the long drive back to the ship.

Chefchaouen, also known as Chaouen, is a city in northwest Morocco. It is noted for its buildings in shades of blue, for which it is nicknamed the "Blue City".

It was founded as a military base in 1471, shortly before the Spanish conquest of Granada, and its population grew quickly with Muslim and Jewish refugees fleeing from Spain. Local culture has been influenced by the mixture of Andalusi and Ghomara people. The old walled city, or medina, is still well-preserved.
