    Skyliner back to the hotel

    Since it looks like we have a long gap between things, we took the opportunity to try out the Skyliner from Hollywood to our Hotel. Was super easy and really nice and quick too.

    We will keep an eye on our boarding group for Rise of the Resistance and head back when it's closer to time for it. Good thing it's the "late" night as that gives us a better chance of actually getting on the ride.

    Update time!!

    Looks like the boarding groups are moving really fast now, so we are going to head back to the park around 6:30pm and it's looking certainly more promising! Plus we need to use our "Free Pass" before 8pm anyway. Probably another run on Tower of Terror. This time we won't care where we sit, just do something different so I will have more material to work with for the Tower of Terror Photo Project :-)    Les mer

    Rise of the Resistance - The Queue

    So amazing that we actually made it at all. As we got off the Tower of Terror, we noticed that our boarding group was up. So we rushed over to the area.

    It was going to be an hour's worth of line, but at least we were IN!!! Barring a breakdown, we were actually going to manage to ride the ride!! Just a mere 12+ HOURS after getting to the park and trying to get a boarding group.

    Even after getting into the line, we continued to check and see how many other boarding groups were going to make it. Turns out . . . 2 more. The cutoff for the day was group 113. Talk about lucky!!

    Happy Birthday to me!!! :-)

    Rise of the Resistance - The Ride

    The ride is pretty amazing. The "sets" are quite impressive, but overall, it's not going to be my favorite of the park.

    The amount of work and attention to detail is astounding, but the flow of the ride is a bit disjointed. So many mini-sections where you start and stop. It also tries to be a few other rides at the same time. Taking the drop from Tower of Terror, taking the simulator feel from Star Tours, but in the end, it seems to fail to deliver the best of those elements.

    Fun, yes, and I would have been really disappointed to have missed out on it, but I'm glad we are done and I don't have to work hard to try and get to ride it again :-)

    Pro tip for Kara and her crew. When attempting to get into a Boarding group, be sure to use the cell connection on the cell phone, not the park Wi-Fi. Since everyone is trying at the same time, they not only go fast but it just can't handle all the people trying to connect at the same time. Lesson learned for us, but thankfully, Brenda was able to work some magic and wrangle a pass at just the right time!!!    Les mer

    Last Ride - Slinky Dog Dash

    This ride all day long was 2 hours wait. It's a picture ride, so we figured we would give it a go, even though it was 1 hour as late as we rode it.

    I also decided to raise my arms during the entire ride. It was fun and it's the first time I have ever done that.

    Naturally, it blocked out our faces when it took the picture, so no real proof ;-)

    The ride is very entertaining and a lot better than I expected it to be. I can see why the long wait.

    After the ride, we cleared out before the park closed to beat the crowd and return to the hotel to get some much needed sleep.

    Tomorrow should be a bit of an easier day, as we don't have anything super early and we will be going to Epcot, which I believe is a bit "tamer" with regards to the ride (especially with Test Track closed down).

    We will take in the countries and go at a nice slow pace :-)

    I am really curious as to what the crowd levels are going to be tomorrow. Today's levels had to be a 9 or 10. Super packed, but we did manage to get everything done that we really wanted. No Falcon ride, but that's ok.    Les mer

    Skyliner to Epcot

    Since this was not a super early day, we were able to take advantage of the Skyliner. It's far better than taking the bus and one of the main reasons we picked Pop Century as a resort.

    Hardly any crowd for the Skyliner, so the entire trip from our resort to Epcot was around 10 minutes, including getting off to make a transfer.

    Now if only it went to all the parks! :-)    Les mer

    Day 3, park #3.

    Special Art celebration going on at Epcot, so pleny of neat artwork to check out.

    Some of the more impressive to us were the chalk art that they came up with. I had fun playing with the 3-D chalk picture.

    The fast passes we had were fo 3 of the major rides, with just Frozen missing, so we're headed there first (a I'm sure everyone else will be too :-)    Les mer

    Frozen Ride

    The "Avatar" of Epcot :-)

    Did this first as we didn't have a fast pass for it.

    We were a bit worried if we would make our next Fast Pass as they said it was going to be an hour wait for the ride. Was more like 35 minutes, so we got a chance to enjoy the ride and had plenty of time to make it to Soarin.

    The ride rocks!! The animatronics are impressive (especially Olaf) and the effects in the ride are pretty unique (Backwards drop on a boat ride). Made it a lot of fun and a great way to start the day!    Les mer

    Soarin

    This was the first Fast Pass of the day. Such a great ride and we were in the best seats!! Front and center of the projections.

    Last time we rode this in California it was "Soarin over California", now it has been updated to include the world.

    Especially liked flying over the Sydney Harbor as it brought back nice memories as to when we were there.

    They added several more scents to the ride, which makes it even that much more fun!    Les mer

    Off to Space

    We're going Green, to avoid coming off the ride more green. ;-)

    After doing the Green version of the ride (pretty mild simulation effects) I can't imagine just how bad it must be for the Orange group.

    The ride is super cramped. So, very close quarters, though they do pump in a lot of air which is nice. I was the Pilot and managed to execute my orders to perfection, so as a crew we made it home safe and sound.

    You know there are probably going to be some issues, when they actually have Sickness bags there for you on the ride (not kidding). Thankfully, no one on our crew needed it.    Les mer

    Nemo Ride & Turtle Talk

    The Nemo Ride said that it was a 30 minute wait. We walked on and spend maybe 3 minutes just going through all the empty queue.

    Ride was really cute and Brenda captured a super cool scene from the ride.

    Turtle talk is always silly fun. Never the same twice and it's quite impressive what they can do with the "Digital Puppet" of Crush. Facial expressions that they can go through are priceless :-)    Les mer

    Country Walk

    Walking around the world at Epcot.

    Lots of very nice picture spots. Plus all the shops have things from their specific country.

    Plus, they have different music for each area that sets the mood. Lots of distinctive buildings to immerse you into their world.Les mer

    After finishing up Epcot, we're back at Pop Century. Figure we need to rest up for the big day tomorrow.!!!

    Actually bought some stuff. Got a friend for Beber. This is baby Groot, and he has a magnet that allows him to sit on the shoulder without falling off. Would be fun to take him to bowling and try out a few games. Perhaps he gives excellent coaching advice.

    Epcot Review

    Now that we are back at the room after quite the yummy dinner (the lasagna was quite a bit better than the Meatloaf I had last time) I figure it's an excellent time to recap the day and the park.

    Epcot is a pretty interesting place. So much construction is going on at the moment and I think the improvements will make it even more interesting.

    The rides are much "tamer" especially with Test Track closed down. That's going to change a bit with the addition of some pretty exciting rides in the near future.

    The Frozen ride was excellent. Loved the fact that at one point in the ride, you actually go backwards down a slight drop (maybe the same height as the Pirate's drop) and then you go forward down a slightly larger drop (slightly higher than Pirates I think). Impressive use of fog too. I'm really glad that we managed to go on that one first as it got super busy (of course) during the rest of the day.

    The other informational rides were quite tame and slow. Soaring over the World was nice as it was quite different than the soaring over California that we had been on before. Several scents popped up during the ride, and they were great!

    Was nice having a bit of a "slow" day as we get a chance to rest up before the big Birthday Day.

    We have heard from our guide, so we're set to go!! Will be nice to have someone take care of us for the day and we do have a new thing we have been enjoying, and that's taking advantage of the pictures!! Since we bought the "memory maker" we are trying to stop at as many as we see and get some pro pictures taken. Every once in a while, something fun happes in them too.

    Between rides, we will see if we can collect a few more tomorrow.

    Signing off a bit early tonight. Going to save some of that energy for the big day!!
