  • Murcia

    September 28, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Since I had to make some reservations for the following trains I had to go into the city. It was hot, too hot for this time of the year. Though I still think Murcia might be a bit underappreciated amongst the Spanish cities. Well at least I went here, because I somehow remembered it's name.Read more

  • Catedral de Murcia

    September 28, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Since I had nothing particular better to do I visited the Cathedral it is indeed a Cathedral. Again there are some donation boxes, though I find it still hard donating money to an organisation, that has enough money to gold plate their walls.Read more

  • Day at the pool

    September 29, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Too be honest, I did come to Murcia to relax a bit at this very nicely priced finca. It even had a pool, which I made full use for the whole day. It was nice. Also I had my avocado bread. It was tasty.

  • Goodbye Murcia, Hello Madrid

    September 30, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

On the train again. This time a Talgo 350, a Spanish train that got its nickname "Pato", that means Duck. Which is quite fitting. Also that train is fast, at this route 300 km/h in some places.
I also managed to get a picture of all the spanish highspeed companies in one spot: Iryo, AVE/AVLO (Renfe) and OuiGo (SNCF).Read more

  • Breakfast and Templo de Debod

    October 1, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

After a good sandwich and coffee I went to the Templo de Debod, which is an old Egyptian temple, that had been moved on this hill, since it would had been flooded, by the construction of the Suez damn. This seems like a total normal thing to do. But beside of that, there was a great view from that hill.Read more

  • Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

    October 2, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Today, I visited some culture and art. It was free.
The Museum is from a private collection of a certain steel manufacturer.
There are of course some impressive pieces of art, including photorealism. Also some paintings of places I visited on previous vacations.Read more

  • Palacio Real

    October 2, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Being a kingdom and a world spanning empire someone had to spend all the money, so why not visit their place.
Sadly you can't take photos in most of the rooms, probably to hide that money can't buy taste. Although it is impressive how much work and value can be put in a single room.Read more

  • Museo Naval

    October 3, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

The Museo Naval contains a collection of historic naval items and a lot of ship models.
It is also situated in the headquarter of the Spanish Armada. This is the reason, why I coincidantly found it by wondering, what the most obvious security guy was doing in front of it, as he awaited the arrival of some naval officers.Read more

  • Last day on the beach

    October 8, 2023 in France ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Since it is my last day in Perpignan we decided to have a day on the beach. There is a nice quite bay near Leucate. Besides taking a swim without much of a current, you can spot some fish here.

  • Arrivé a Paris

    October 9, 2023 in France ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Since I arrived quite early I spend some time walking around until it was time to check-in.
As in many places in Paris, there is some spectacular architecture to be seen arround the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
And there was a fire on the horizon. Seems like a storehouse in Saint-Denis caught fire.

  • Hôtel des Invalides

    October 10, 2023 in France ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

I spontanious decided to visit the Hôtel des Invalides.
The complex houses a militairy museum with a huge collection of the French militairy history, starting in medieval times, going of course through the Napoleonic era and ending in the guerres mondiales.
Since I haven't been in a cathedral for days and already paid the entrance fee, I visited the grave of Napoleon.

  • Jardin des plantes

    October 11, 2023 in France ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

... and at the end of this walk I stumbled upon the Jardin des Plantes with even more nice places to enjoy this last evening of warmth and sun.
It features also a statue of a man fighting a bear. I'm team bear here since I don't particulary like hunters in general and this guy in particular. Why is that pervert naked? Is bear killing some sort of fetish to him? I really think that bear did indeed a service to society. Clearly the hero in that story.Read more

  • Last night in Paris

    October 11, 2023 in France ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

What better evening than this one to enjoy Parisian food once more. After a late matcha and a tofu pudding.
And to ease the shock of coming back to Berlin, I found myself a nice vegan döner.

  • Long way home

    October 12, 2023 in France ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

This is one of those long travel days again, so I better have a good breakfast. Around the Gare du Nord are a lot of Indish restaurants, so no problem at all to get a full meal. Also it was quite cheap compared to the rest of Paris.
And since the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l'Est are neighbours, you can just walk over to the other one. Even the though the plattforms are announced just before you can board the train, I wouldn't call it a lucky guess, after I spotted the only Velaro in the whole station.
I was also lucky to spot a new TGV M, when we left the station. They are not even in service yet.
After a change in Frankfurt, I boarded the last train of this vacation and ordered some Chili sin Carne. DB might not be as fast as RENFE or SNCF, but you can use the time to have an actually good meal if you are vegan.
