• Trephina Gorge

    July 11, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

We booked 3 nights at the Gorge campground within the Trephina Gorge Nature Reserve which is approximately 78kms south east of Alice Springs. Rhett, one of the camp hosts, greeted us on our arrival as we set up for our stay. The only facilities are a drop (smelly) toilet and tap water (no showers) but a very peaceful spot with lots of bird life.

On our second day we moved campsites to avoid being downwind of the toilet. Before lunch we did the gorge walk which was a steep rocky climb and then down into the sandy riverbed.

This afternoon we did the Panorama walk which was very steep but with spectacular 360 degree views of the gorge and surrounding valleys.
