In January 1904 the iron barque Ethel was forced onto the beach where wreckage still remains. There is a timber staircase of about 130 steps lead down to the beach.

Road to Moonta

Diverting off the Yorke Highway into Port Victoria, South Kilkerran and Maitland. Stocked up for the next few days in Maitland - lots of original stone buildings.
Hey Helen, Moonta was where 6yr old Hannah M got left behind while everyone else was back at Wallaroo (or Soweto by the Sea as we called it then) before we realised. She survived at the local shop very well on chips and ice cream! [Ian]
No one in particular...there were 9 children from 3 families and no one did a head count as they were all mixed up piling into whatever car had space or with their closest friend of the day. Lesson learnt ! [Ian]
