We filled up the tanks with water at the Cowell lions park then picked up a 10lt spring water carton and headed off to Arno Bay.
There is not much here other than the caravan park which is right up against the beach (just what Kay was hoping for) and a jetty for fishing.
The park is a bit old and run down but its all about location I hear.
We have a spot overlooking the jetty and ocean.
Steve the owner seems to have something going on for the guests every day from afternoon tea Tuesdays fish n chips on a Wednesday pie day Thursday happy hour Friday beef night Saturday’s and free pancakes on Sunday mornings but as we are weird we will probably not attend any of these.
So we have spent our first full day vacuuming the van and car, washing all the dogs bedding the giving them both a haircut and a good dosing of fix my stink spray.もっと詳しく

We decided that as it was a nice dry albeit windy day that we would have a walk along the boardwalk out to the river’s mouth, well we got that wrong because when we were about 100 metres into the walk it started to spit, it never became a full downpour but due to the wind it got very cold and wet. O well we sucked it up (all the moaning I mean) and got on with it and we still had a good time!!もっと詳しく

Port Lincoln

We left Arno Bay after a nice pancake breakfast heading south, we stopped off in Tumby bay to have a looksee fill up on diesel but not to stay. We continued on along the Lincoln hwy until we reached Port Lincoln where we did some more grocery shopping, then headed off hunting Koalas (hunting with a camera only). We somehow missed finding them on the way as we had no luck by the time we reached Encounter bay, so we stopped for lunch before having another look on the way back.もっと詳しく

Last train for Port Lincoln

After seeing the Koalas we set off for our night camp we ended up staying at a rest stop on the Flinders hwy at Fountain.
On our way we came to a rail crossing with the red lights flashing (this didn’t stop one idiot who just drove through) so we waited for the train to pass and we found out from a guy who was there that the train that was coming was going to be the last train ever to travel to Port Lincoln. Viterra the grain handlers have decided to end their contract with the railway changing to road, so there’s no more need for the railway therefore all the employees lose their jobs!!!もっと詳しく

After a cold very dark night at Fountain we awoke to find that we had been the only ones to stay there overnight.
We took a trip into Coffin Bay to have another look around (we stayed here last year on our big lap trip.
Then got back on the Flinders Hwy to Venus Bay we stopped in Elliston for Diesel and some lunch bits.
We have booked into the caravan park for 4 nights, we really enjoyed it here the last time we stayed (not the lap trip just the trip across the Nullarbor we did before I quit working).もっと詳しく

We are glad to be back here as we really like this caravan park due to the views of the bay and watching the birds.
We ordered fish and chips for dinner, it was Whiting which was lovely tasting but a bit small as a portion we should have got an extra to share.
Watching the Pelicans and the Pacific gulls chasing after the fishermen while they gut their catch or listening to them walking on the roof of the caravan very cool.
We went for a walk to the lookout to see if we could spot any dolphins but no luck this time.もっと詳しく

We are now back in Ceduna staying at the Foreshore caravan park, again we stayed here during our across the Nullarbor trip. It’s a nice park that has been updated again since we were last here, every site is now a slab site with gravel to park your car on. The ammenities are still as before but they were brand new 2 years ago.
We have a site against the foreshore perimeter fence which gives us views of the bay.もっと詳しく

Back across the Nullarbor

We got away from the caravan park at 9.25, we took a photo of the distance marker in the centre of Ceduna which shows we have 1924kms to travel is if go direct to Perth,we will probably easily do more than that as we will likely go via Esperance, Albany Denmark etc.
We passed the fuel stop that we filled up at in Ceduna the diesel is now $1.419 per litre, when we got to The Nullarbor roadhouse we were running on empty (the light had been on for 10kms) so we had to fill up again this time $2.11 per litre ($157 to fill) I had thought it was dear enough when we came over in February at $1.82 per litre but obviously I was mistaken.
I got to experience how the truck drivers fill when we came up on a convoy of 6 caravans bunched up together travelling along at about 85kmp, so we had to pick our spots where the road was straight enough that we could see it was clear to overtake, it took us 4 manoeuvres but once we were clear we could get back to our cruising speed of 98-100 kpms.
We decided to stop overnight at a free camp called the Best of the Bite it is on the cliff top so we get a good look out at the ocean, which for some reason toad is very calm, we normally see breakers.もっと詳しく

Well I changed my mind about staying so close to the cliff edge, the wind was howling rocking the van and I couldn’t get to sleep (visions of the cliff carving off and us dropping into the ocean) So at 1.30am I moved us further away from the edge to be safe, I then had a good 6.5 hours of sound sleep.
We set out for the border where we filled up with fuel at 211 cents per litre before going through the quarantine check (the lady today was very friendly, I tried to apologise for the pups barking at her, but she said no let them bark it’s their home and I’m a stranger, and she wished us a safe journey.
We are now 354kms inside the WA border at the Caiguna Blow hole free camp where we are staying overnight.
The blowhole which only about 10 metres off the side of the road must link up to underground caves which is what causes the blowhole to breath as the air inside and outside equalise in pressure.もっと詳しく

I was correct about the fuel consumption it has dropped from over 20 litres per 100km to 14 litres per 100km which is a great saving. We might be able to eat now🤪.
We are back in Esperance this is our 2nd time here as we came after our short trip across the Nullarbor in 2017, we are staying for 4 nights at the same caravan park as last time which is only a short walk to the Port area and beach.
The weather is a bit strange at the moment with long bouts of heavy rain followed by bright sunshine with the temperature only topping 17c which would be ok if not for the wind 25 to 32km/h .もっと詳しく

We have now moved on from Esperance after 4 at times very wet nights the sun came out to allow us to pack up in the dry.
We headed south west passing through Monjingup, Dalyup, Coomalbigup, Munglinup, Ravensthorpe and Jerramungup, lots of small towns with few inhabitants, Ravensthorpe being the largest but that only has around 440 people living there, the price of fuel was back up to 180 cents per litre. The new bridge replacing the one that was washed away during the 2017 floods looks good but you would expect that for $11 million.
We stopped once for fuel and once to let the pups out for a leg stretch.
In the end after about 405kms we have reached Bremer Bay we stopped here in 2017 when the Ravensthorpe bridge collapse prevented us from going to Esperance from Albany,
That last time we stayed at the Bremer Bay caravan park, this time we thought we would try the other park called Bremer Bay Beaches caravan park and so far we are liking it.
The park is full of peppermint trees with a lot of sites placed at different heights which better than the normal all in a flat row, gives the place more character.もっと詳しく

We have now moved onto Emu Beach which is just down the road from Albany this is the third time we have stayed at this park and it has had some more improvements, we are on site 7 opposite an ammenities block which has just been renovated. The site is a double slab plus about 6 metres of grass to park the car on or set up a run for the pups.
We have booked in for 4 nights so will get in some sightseeing around Albany again (we really do like Albany).もっと詳しく

We headed out from Emu beach this morning during a rain storm, aiming to stop at Denmark but when we got there we looked at the weather forecast and realised that it was due to rain for the next 7 days, so we thought better of it and carried on driving.
