Statehood Day Eve

When we returned, we found the hut alive with energy!

It was Statehood Day Eve, and groups of Slovenians — some fresh from their own summit climbs, others day hikers — had gathered for an impromptu party.

Songs echoed through the hut, glasses clinked, backpacks were pushed into corners to make space for laughter and dancing. It was a celebration not only of reaching the top, but of something deeper: a shared national spirit, carried all the way up to the highest point in the country.Read more
