Þingvellir National Park is the site of the first Viking parliament, and location where American/Euro tectonic plates meet.
Only 20% of Iceland is low land and habitable-mostly along the shore and some inward a bit. The first parliament took 2-3 weeks on horseback to gather so they camped for several weeks in June (the times of all day sun).
At this location, a literal bridge in Miðlína crosses between the continental plates of Eurasia and North America.
