Iceland and France

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacred Heart of Montmartre), commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica. We caught a tightly packed tram up the hill and after our visit, took a 12 min walk down quaint cobble stone roads to Moulin Rouge.

In the floor map photo, each little section labeled "chapelle" is actually quite large and houses it's own altar and tabernacle. A list of the many donated chapels inside the Sacré-Coeur can be found on wiki:

Sacré-Coeur is quite amazing to see in person inside and out--it took us a couple of hours (or more). The basilica overlooks the entire city of Paris. It has the largest bell in France that can be heard 10km away. One of the 2 horse rider statues out front is Joan of Arc. The mosaics inside are unbelievable, and the fencing in the garden over looking Paris can be used to attach your "love lock" (instead of weighing down / compromising the structure of the bridges over the Seine).
Although controversial in it's alleged connection with the destruction of The Paris Commune (the French revolutionary government) in the late 1800's, it is a must see!Read more
