    All afternoon people coming from the north had been stopping to let us know that the Peel River ferry was not running (again). Undeterred our cyclists ventured on. Sure enough when we got there it was out of commission. The water was too high and still rising so the ramp was being washed away. Until the water levels start going down the ferry will not be operating.

    Our cyclists had a backup plan to hire a boat to take them across. A group of three cyclists before them set the stage, and the boat showed up in just a few minutes. Long enough for Renée to re-stock her supplies in case we can’t join her for a few days, if at all.

    Renée is finally on her own, the way she probably pictured the trip originally. In the end they would bike over 120kms on this gorgeous day.

    We had to backtrack and camp for the night. We ended up at a gravel pit not far from the ferry landing. Almost immediately a dump truck and loader showed up to haul gravel to the landing site. So there is hope …
