    Pinery Provincial Park

    May 6, 2023 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

When we left this morning, we had plans to make it as far as Flint, MI but since we were making such good time, we decided to push to the border. All went pretty smoothly until, as we were slowly approaching the toll booth at the Blue Bridge to cross into Sarnia, ON, the car behind us started honking wildly. At first we ignored it, thinking that it was just another impatient driver. Before long though, we realized that they were trying to get our attention! The spare tire on our trailer had just fallen off to the pavement! Support and all!😳 It was an incredible strike of luck that it fell where it did. I can only imagine the mess had we lost it a few hours earlier in Chicago’s heavy freeway traffic. The added bonus is that we were able to retrieve it without further incident. Let’s hope we can get the support welded back in place during our visit in Toronto.
Once in Canada, we drove to Pinery Provincial Park for the night, a beautiful park along the shores of Lake Huron. We’ll likely leave a bit later tomorrow so that we can enjoy it longer.
